Pick The Team - Dead in the water

Recommended Posts

Just got home and have seen the PTT figures for the Charlton game. Of the 1855 MyFC members who bothered to vote, 1088 (59%) said leave it to Liam, 510 (27%) said pick the team but give Liam flexibility, 199 (11%) said pick the team and give Liam no flexibilitiy and 58 (3%) abstained. Surely the PTT concept has got to be dropped before the season starts - to be fair to the team and those supporters who were either side of the divide. At least then, when MyFC renewal time comes around, there will be a clear direction on this issue (if this lak of interest wasn't a clear indication in itself!).

I agree with you that dropping PTT will probably happen in the future, but I don't think it will happen right away. In order to drop something that was so fundamental to the original concept, it can't be done lightly, so we'll have to persist with this or some version of it for a while before we can be seen to have given it a fair shot. One friendly in July isn't really a complete test.

But the anti-PTT crowd can't get complacent and forget to keep voting for the manager to choose.

Ideally, we should all pick a team and the composite results should be given to Liam as an advisory suggestion. He wouldn't be bound by it in any way, and if he gives us feedback after each game as to his thinking, we'll all learn more.

Agree with that 100% Robert, the moment the idea that members can overrule the manager is dropped we can all safely start using the team selector and Liam can consider our choices before picking his team.
That way the team selector becomes a useful management information tool rather than a millstone round the managers (and the owners) neck.
We, the same as every other football fans, all know that we are experts at picking the team, we have been doing it on this site for years and I am sure that many of us would love to have our team selections presented to Liam as long as he gets to cherry pick the good ideas, ignore the bad ones and he gets the final say.

They can't drop PTT as that's what they are using to get mugs to continue signing up. It's only when you pay your money you find out they were just kidding about PTT. The most useful thing MyFC should be doing know is working out the arrangements to hand over control of the club to whoever is going to take over in February (the previous owners? The Fleet Trust? Eurostar?) as even the most committed MyFC cultist must realise deep down that renewals will fall well short of a viable number to continue the experiment.

not too sure about that if people joined because of ppt why the hell are they not selecting the team and forcing the issue to take place

some are actually doing just that and getting banned for their trouble...I have just spent half an hour reading the hoo hah between tinman and brooks which resulted in brooks losing his patience and pulling rank on tinman and getting him banned...

now for the uninitiated amongst you tinman is a regular supporter who misses very few games and is very outspoken and bloody funny as well...brooks is afraid of his outspoken views and always takes him on and loses....since the inquisition was enforced on the cesspit bannings are the order of the day over there....ve hav vays ov makin yu talk...

its all so bloody sad you have to larf or else you would cry...methinks I shall delete it from favs and just enjoy the banter on here....!!

you don't live very far, go to stone bridge road...walk around...take in what is going on.

tell the membership of your observations.......then expand on whats needed and how to run the club!.

I think you may be surprised at the effort and activity that goes on on a daily basis, these guys need support from us

mr jverlander can i suggest you spend some time reading through my posts on this forum.

i have never suggested once that people are not putting the effort in around the ground. i think there is some sterling work going on and i applaud every bit of it. and it's not often i miss a game.
i think you'll discover that i save my vitriol for those that organise MyFC not EUFC. and before you start on the "one and the same thing" argument, it's [****!!****]. MyFC will come and go. EUFC is a football club. has been there for years and will be there for years to come. up and down the leagues. i will be there, in the rain, up and down the leagues, long after messrs brooks, rozanski, and cal (FT edit abusive), have departed for barbados.
fans running the club? i bought into it. i don't believe that is happening. volunteering your time to paint the hoardings and erect goalposts is not running the club. i'm not criticising those people i'm simply pointing out that isn't running a football club.
i've paid my

Tinman (Tony) was indeed behind the push to get a family entrance for child safety reasons - it's even been posted about off-topic on MyFC, as a tribute to him now he has departed that forum ... Tony was on the right side, Harry, he really was.

That's not how it happened at all. Will Brooks didn't have anything to do with Tinman getting banned, it was the forum team. As far as I can remember, he wasn't involved in the conversation at all until after the ban had been done, which wasn't a permanent thing either, just 48 hours

Chris, I understand from other "banned" members of my acquaintance that usually they are required to apologise and give assurances that they will not reoffend - I have seen the PMs received by a member who was banned this week for "bringing the forum into disrepute".

thats total bollox and you know it...you are a member of the MyFc forum team and have deleted posts on many occasions..

they were engaged in an argument and then tinman got banned and disappeared...I can't be arsed posting the whole thread on here and if brooks answered all the posts by tinman through quotes then thats even worse after he had him banned....you trying to tell us that brooks doesn't have the final say on who gets banned and who doesn't...?

yeah right...grin
