3 points.
Swearing at a football ground is an offence.
so is running on a pitch.
So is mooning.
The culprit ought to be made named and shamed, made to apologise, then have a 5 match ban.
Repeat it, banned for the season.
Sorted.

which bit am I wrong about ? It is not clear from your post..

I would say if you are not taking your kids because they may hear inappropriate words, then better keep them out of the school playground as well.

I have brought all my kids to many football games from a young age luckily they tend to take their lead from me and not some blokes they may or maynot overhear for 90 minutes every few weeks or so at a football match. They no longer regularily accompany me to the Fleet,( only on odd occasions now ) but they can be seen at all the home games of a premiership club.

Sorry for the delay in replying, Wayne, work and all that.
You are wrong because you seem to accept that foul language is an acceptable norm at football grounds.
It isn't , nor does it need to be. The odd bit of adult abuse (when merited) can be quite funny, but the levels of continued abuse spewing from near the drum was totally unacceptable.
It is an arrestable offence. Simple as.
Fortunately, those in charge are less lenient than yourself, and are acting on it. If it contiues, expect to see a few arrests or ejections .
And not before time.

Are these the group of people that do a lot of the swearing during games the ones that started a fight between charlton supporters in the last seasons pre season game and starting to offer players out from the oppo like jim bently of morecambe a couple of seasons ago.

With regard to the bad language that emanates from behind the goal, maybe it's time to change tact and approach it from another direction. As mentioned by someone else in this thread, it did seem bad on Saturday.

I'm a season ticket holder and sit with my boys behind the goal for every home game, against Charlton I took along a mate with his son to visit Stonebridge road for the first time. On some occasions I did see him put his hands over his young son's ears. I did try to explain that the language wasn't usually that vulgar. I don't know whether he will be joining us again....

At the moment, again as mentioned by someone else, the stewards are either unable or unwilling to get involved in that section of the crowd which was shown up by their lack of action after the so caller supported jumped down onto the pitch on Saturday. I think it's time to bring in someone who is able to influence this section and ask for the reduction in the vitriol that is spouted therefore at the next home game notices signed by the players and management should be left on all the seats behind the goal and posted in the bar explaining the zero tolerance approach to bad language within the ground and making it pain to those few who do that they are not helping the team achieve it's targets by acting this way within the ground. If this section don't listen to the players maybe it's time to bite the bullet and ban the culprits.

At first sight this seems like a good idea. Proper warning should be given to those who are causing the problems. Not everyone takes part in or reads posts on the forum so notices on all seats plus a large warning notice outside the ground and the approach to the seated area would be helpful.

Also, as some have claimed that the culprits are already known, their names must be passed on to the CEO as it is unlikely that he will yet be aware who these people are.

If after adequate warning the problem continues, unfortunately evictions and bans will have to occur. Actions speak louder than words.

i watch the game from within the area of the drum behind the goal. im not offended by the language that comes out of the area more embarassed. embarassed by the fact awayfans will percieve us all to be foul mouthed and embarassed by the lack of action taken by police or stewards. also im not saying it has been done but please dont tarnish us all in that area as the same. the vast majority of us are there to support the team in the best way we know how and that is by making a smuch noise as possible! rant over

I sat behind the goal in the first half and didn't hear anything. I moved and stood for the second half so cannot comment on any bad language.

I did see the bloke jump on the pitch though which was bad.

Hopefully, the new Safety Office will be able to nip this sort of thing in the bud as it certainly is not a 'problem' like they have at Aldershot.

I didn't intend to tarnish anyone, of the almost 1900 there on Saturday, it was maybe a dozen at very most that were the main offenders, the same as every weekend, the same ones that the stewards watch every week. I don't want to see anyone banned but I in turn don't want to be tarnished with their brush. There is a certain amount of swearing at all sporting events as passions rise but on Saturday it did seem to be above what is acceptable

I've no doubt they are as passionate about the Fleet as the rest of us and nobody wants anyone to stop singing, my boys sometimes join in, but I don't want my boys singing about sticking any other football teams or colours where the sun doesn't shine. All everyone is asking, surely, is for the ground to be a place where families can come and enjoy the experience of watching a decent game of football, if a kid starts to watch the Fleet now, at the start of what could be a great season for us, he could be watching us for the foreseeable future but if his of hers parents don't want to bring them that's another supporter we could have lose.

I don't know what the answer is but I hope we can find on before the wholesale banning of certain supporters take place

Unfortunately, putting a notice up will baffle the knuckle draggers and the neanderthals that spew out the bile. They need to be able to read it.

Simply put out a loud tannoy announcement before (and during) the game, place stewards amongst them, and eject offenders.

Even the brain dead will cotton on in the end.

Seriously, well done with that. I had a few discussions about incidents both behind the goal in the first half, and then in MyFC gimpy geek corner (that I was forced to stand in wink ) in the second half.

The latter incident was dealt with quite promptly by a steward incidentally, so well done to them too.

We'll never get rid of all the swearing, but hopefully we can diminish it to some extent..

Well done that man! One of the things letting down the club has been the implementing of rules and stewarding the same on match days... if you can get this sorted quickly, you'll soon earn a lot of respect from the faithful.

just anbother point on the stewarding, why is it that we have kids who look about 10 doing some of the stewarding? this looks both unprofessional and i cant see these kids having much influence if they had to sort something out. two things also need to happen to the first aider, firstly go on a bit of a diet and secondly dont wear a pouch around the back, it looks as though hes walking around in a rubber ring...

I remember years ago playing in a football tournament at Preston's Deepdale ground. One of the opposing players went down with a broken leg. All hell broke loose with everyone on their team screeming for medical assistance. This was followed by a St. Johns Ambulance fellow running across the pitch with a box of plasters. True story.

The chap who got on the pitch was caught and was dealt with. the launguage was really bad on Saturday and these people do nothing to improve the armosphere.

As Stu M says the continually use of the C word should have been dealt with by the stewards. Lets just hope the new chap gets to grips and quickly.
