Behind the goal terrace and entrance cost..!

Recommended Posts

Surely the answer is already there... Its an offence to use such language, why don't the stewards act and just eject the offenders? This would send out a clear message that this kind of behaviour will not be tolerated, and would see the end of it.

Absolutely Patman, don't move the problem eliminate it.

Those guys just have to choose whether they want to swear or support the Fleet.

I think a couple of ejections would soon see a moderation of the language.

If that doesn't work then they will have to be banned.

If they are putting people off coming then they need to be dealt with.

didnt hear any swearing yesterday but since being moved out from my usual position on the Plough end terrace have not ventured into the seats.

But surely our aim should be getting the most vocal element behind the goal and generating as much atmosphere and noise as possible, if that involves swearing so be it. And conversely we should be placing the away fans in a place where they are less heard, ideally I would have put in the side terrace, but that option is gone now due to portakabin now in its place.

Lets not get too precious on this. i think its the distinct lack of atmosphere and 'real game' like feel that keeps people in the pubs and or disappearing up to the smoke to the higher league clubs.

Its bad enough now, lets not make it worse.

Sorry, Wayne, but you are wrong. The language HAS got worse, to the extent that families are being put off attending. I won't bring my 2 kids for that reason.

Eject the swearers (those that keep up the unrelenting torrent of effing and C'ing) as opposed to the occaision humerous referee's a W*****r after a [****!!****] up, and the problem will go away after a couple of games. We can then say we are a family club.

3 points.

Swearing at a football ground is an offence.

so is running on a pitch.

So is mooning.

The culprit ought to be made named and shamed, made to apologise, then have a 5 match ban.

Repeat it, banned for the season.

Sorted.

Cool agree etc etc!! BUT

We have traditionally had a decent (any decent) atmosphere created from the Plough end... When it was all standing (and i do prefer seats now!!) we used to have a cracking atmosphere behind there - it has the low roof and good for acoustics etc etc

Find, warn and then eject the 'foul language' people... we all know who they are and can see them every week - 10 people max - move them elsewhere - job done....

dont make this a bigger issue than it need be...

Totally agree the culprits get spoken to pretty much every couple of home games and just get a slap on the wrist and then told to go back to their seats. As always mentioned the stewards and security is appalling and the club should give them the required training for matchdays and to look presentable.

As much as i object to the swearing. It goes on in every ground in the country. Chances are that every time one of our players mess up, the majority of you go fing hell whats he up to.So do we eject people who swear? or just because behind the goal they are more vocal about it?

I have to admit I do not mind the swearing to and extent but some people can take it a little too far.

The one thing I do disagree with though is moving us singers totally from The Plough End. Some of them have been standing in that end at games for years so why should they move. What I would suggest(Like someone else earlier)is extending the seats to the end of each end of the Plough End and make the far end near to the corner terrace(aka MyFC Corner)and make that the Family Part of the stand. Cause the swearers are mainly near the other side of the Plough End.

Back in the day when I was in the Shed at Stamford Bridge I aimed a w@nker sign towards the West Ham fans in the away section. At the time the Shed had become part of an all seater stadium and the Shed happened to be the family section.

West Ham just scored their fans celebrated but the goal was ruled out for offisde. We then in turn celebrated in return and I gave my gesture.

A steward approached me and kindly told me that if I ever did that again then I would be ejected. West Ham went on to win the game 1-0 and with that plus poor results v Sheffield Wednesday and Leicester City Chelsea threw the title away. I never swore again unless I was well hidden and in a large majority.

I totally agrre with the fact that the home end of years gone by was a brilliant atmosphere and i always used to stand there to, i swear as much as the next man, but at a small club trying to attract extra fans , something has to be done, idealy yes the away end is good for the singing, but them bloody seats have had to be put there or the stand would still be closed. I see the point of moving the problem. this will just to get up the side liners noses, but hopefully by talking about it and bringing it to the attentions of those in the know, something will be done

which bit am I wrong about ? It is not clear from your post..

I would say if you are not taking your kids because they may hear inappropriate words, then better keep them out of the school playground as well.

I have brought all my kids to many football games from a young age luckily they tend to take their lead from me and not some blokes they may or maynot overhear for 90 minutes every few weeks or so at a football match. They no longer regularily accompany me to the Fleet,( only on odd occasions now ) but they can be seen at all the home games of a premiership club.

But as already acknowledged, the most vocal element (the lads around the drum, etc) aren't the main protagonists. They're the ones who create the atmosphere.

If you think you're harming the atmosphere by throwing out the numbskulls whose entire repertoire consists of "Ugh, keeper you're a c**t", "Ugh, keeper you're a c**t" and their third little gem, namely "Ugh, keeper you're a c**t", then I have to disagree. Of course we all hear swearing at a match and anyone who brings kids should expect it. But there should be somewhere they can go without out having the 'intelligentsia' roaring "you c**t" down their throats for 90 minutes.

I understand there is an element of swearing at most matches but the type of language used yesterday was completely unacceptable.

I don't really know the story behind the the people involved and will be discussing with Club staff, but if anyone would care to enlighten me either here or by PM I would appreciate it.

As has been said before, It is not everyone behind the goal that are involved in the foul language. I know for a fact, that Scott and Kenny and these sorts of people go to most, if not every, away game. At most away games, there is still some swearing, but not as much as there was yesterday. If you were to get rid of the drum and the singers, then you'd be losing an advantage that even Liam Daish said helps the team. I am sure that some people would be able to supply you with the names of those who attatch themselves to the drummer and are part of the less desirable element of football crowds.

I don't believe i've heard kenny swear before..other than.. w...w...wombat!

...it is not the normal everyday "football" swearing that is the problem it is the total and abject foulness of the language and terminology that is used by those so called "adults" looking to get some laughs out of their teenager/child buddies by being as crude as they can.

It is more than a pity because if they put their minds to it they could probably come up with something witty. However they seem intent on puttiing off any decent folks coming to support us.

The current situation can't be defended but unless the Police want to do something it is hard to see how it will be stopped by a few stewards on a tenner a game.

Was stood behind the goal at the away end with the Charlton fans on Saturday and a fair few commented on how "pathetic" some of the language coming from behind the home goal was.

What bright spark thought of the chant "who the fuc*in hell are you?" to a Championship side and continue chanting it when they are 3-0 up! Maybe the solution is to record these idiots for the entire 90 minutes and then sit them down and let them listen to how dumb they sound.

Its the same with people with mobile phones on trains - why is it always the 1's with half a brain (and I'm being generous there) that always speak the loudest? If I sounded that stupid I'd keep quiet for fear of being overheard. sigh . . .

It will be dealt with. And quickly. I tried burying my head in the sand once. Just got a noseful of grit. Never done it since.
