Fri 3pm Deadline - To use your MYFC PTT Vote

Recommended Posts

http://members.myfootballclub.co.uk//team

Choices.

Let Liam Pick the Team.

You pick the team, Liam can make minor alterations.

You Pick the team, no changes apart from emergencies, illnes etc.

Abstain.

====

This is an important first time use of the pick the team vote.

Whatever your opinion, please use your vote as voting figures are sadly low again at the moment.

I presume the deadline is 3pm Friday as the plan is to give Liam the results 24 hours before kick off. They then stay private till after the game. Whichever of the 3 choices above gets the majotity vote, that method is used against Charlton.

In case anyone was wondering, when the vote closed, 1855 votes had been cast. We won't know which option won (nor the team selected) until after the game tomorrow.

Only 6% of the members voted, which of course, is disappointing. Let's see if participation increases over time.

Why is 6% disappointing?

For those of us against PTT that is fantastic news, a real statement of intent by a 94% majority that they either do not want it or couldn't care less about it.

Just drop it and let it sink without trace. Ebbsfleet and MYFC will continue to thrive without it, it will bring the 2 sides together in harmony like never before, a lasting truce will be called, those avoiding MYFC because of PTT (like myself and many others) will join, and the club will continue upwards with the wealth and diversity of experience that MYFC brings.

Am I wrong?

Doubt it Pat - seeing as well over 2,000 have already renewed.

Those damned statistics again doh

Yeah - especially when they insist on proving you wrong!

Slarti - as I said on the 'Let Liam pick the team' thread - given the amount of messing about that has - and continues - to be done about PTT, my preferred option at this point is for the WT to bite the bullet - scrap it completely and spent the next seven months trying to consolidate as much of the membership as possible, rather than waste continuing energy messing about like they are with a 'solution' that is only going to lead to the same result (only with a lot more hassle and conflict and rows and complaining etc.).

DD has this spot on. Self Sufficency is our goal. Not league football or cup runs. They dont keep you going unless you get em year in year out.

If EUFC can see the MYFC income as additional income then the club will be in a stronger position.

The only proven ways to self suffiency for clubs at our level are

1. Attract suffient home gates to at least "break even"

2. Have a profitable outside income stream affiliated to the club, (such as a sports centre/bar/cafe/restaurant)

3 Quality marketing of club products, both at the club shop and on-line.

Well said Gaz, from what i have seen so far the club is starting to look more at these areas to provide more income .A long process but at least its started

Marketing and publicity = income = self suffiency = stability = growth ( in all areas not least the playing side) Of course it is all dependent on getting the right people in the right posistions,so i think this will be a season to stabilise the club onto a firm footing and then start to push on.

I don't know if it is going to work or not - and neither do you. My sole interest is what to do in the best interest of the club and MyFC. The membership of MyFC will be a lot lower than this year and not implementing PTT will reduce that even further. PTT should have been implemented last March as had been scheduled. The current 'compromise' will not, in my opinion, keep anyone happy.

For example - members are PTT for today's game - pre-season, summer vacations, no coach's reports, no training reports of any real substance, no player report, no scouting, no pro-zone, no preview, etc and many may realize that they are unlikely to pick the team anyway because of how the vote is constructed. Whether only 1,855 members have any interest in this or not cannot and should not be judged in the current situation. The entire episode has be completely counter-productive in my opinion and has been handled badly (and I have been saying this since March).

At this point in time I feel the best solution now is that, if there is a general opinion that only a tiny minority want to PTT, let's scrap it completely and deal with the consequences. It is a distraction and we have a lot of work to do to make MyFC successful. But as I have just commented on MyFC - if we do that then those that are left (i.e. MyFC members) better be willing to put their hand in their pockets and make up the shortfall in funding that will arise as a consequence.

I didn't bother to vote at all although I was one of the original pre-Ebbsfleet members who signed up to do something really different with a football club. It is quite clear to me that the Operator is trying to phase PTT out - death by a thousand cuts, as I have said on the MyFC forum. I have to say that I find myself agreeing with Dom - get rid of it, let MyFC be honest that the whole project has now become a glorified supporter's club and let those who really want to feel part of grassroots non-league football go elsewhere for that experience - as I will be doing this season.

We are now in the invidious postition of having to have our threads "approved" by the Forum Team before they are posted. I sent one in yesterday which was quite innocuous and was simply a question about the appearance of the site - it's still not appeared. This means that I am being denied a voice, in my opinion. I have invested a lot of time, money and emotional commitment in MyFc over the last 12 months - and to what end? We own nothing and we pick nothing. So be it.

Apologies for the slight editing, but thats one thing that cannot be levelled at MyFC, they are quite good at putting their hands in their pockets.

You mentioned this in another post - if the membership declined hugely, there would probably be enough willing people left who would pay 2 or 3 times the current rate in order for MyFC to continue.

Would this continue without promotion/further cup glory? Who knows... But some of 'them' have caught the Fleet bug, and are hooked now - next step, getting more of them through the gates...

Could have told you that eight months ago.

Well Paul, I have my reasons and they are many, I'm afraid - and some of them are not for public consumption. MyFC and Ebbsfleet are now bound together, for better and for worse - even long-standing fans who are not members of MyFC will still find that they cannot ignore the Society, as all the decisions are being made there, by a small caucus. So even if you aren't a MyFC member - and I know many on this forum are not - you will still be affected by what happens there if you follow the Fleet. Paul, you know how much I have put into it - I know we haven't always seen eye to eye, but I respect your sincerity. But I'm not prepared to be controlled any more.
