Player Movements.....Worrying

Observator

Recommended Posts

How long has the debate pf local younger players Vs seasoned outsiders been raging??? I can remember this being spoke about back to the very first year Kinnear defied the demands at a fans/board meeting...

The squad and signings are very worrying... I love Margate always have but im concerned they will be far short this season.

The reserves were by far good enough for their respected league so to expecting them to survive Prem level is poor. They would in fact struggle at Kent League level. They are technically good but need strength and experience to progress.

The new signings I have heard of... James Gregory very much the journey man, not good enough for Ramsgate/Dover and found his feet at Hythe in the Kent league but no where near good enough for Premier level.

Hickman? well for a player to struggle at Faversham to then step up to premier level is a tough ask, but his attitude is superb, ability questionable.

Wes Hammond, Could not hold a place down at Favesham.. enough said.

All the youngsters are simply not good enough and a concern for them and the club is them being over rum all year which is a lot to take at such age.

All the teams in kent have strengthened where as Margate have signed the players not wanted by clubs in the Ryman 1 and Kent league...

Time to get rid of those shares Mr Piper?

Hmmm, 'Observator' I wonder who you could really be? You take a keen interest in Margate FC but have only joined this forum today? Are you an existing member who has decided on a new identity? It's up for others to decide if you genuinely want to discuss various matters or are just stirring. However, the fact that your posting on the Will Graham thread was shown to be untrue by a parent of a Whitstable player does not bode well for your contributions to this forum.

As for Wesley Hammond, I have no idea whether he is going to play for us or not, and I'm not in a position to say if he would be good enough or not. However, in fairness to the lad I would point out he was voted supporters' and manager's player of the year at Faversham last season, which would suggest he could hold down a place there after all.

I can accept being negative, I hold my hands up I am negative to margates situation but at the same time I will not bury my head in the sand...

As for Mr Piper? better left alone.

Alan you post a lot and seem very passionatte about the club are you not the least bit concerned? my comments all be them harsh but you have to admit my concerns regarding the additions and the level required in the Premier is worrying would you not agree.

I am hoping that Mr Ashby has got a few loans targets that will be able to drop the pro big time mentality and dig their heels in. On the same point Mr Ashby was a model pro at Gills and they would be presumably his main source of players for loan. Looking at their structure and squad depth now due to the recent relegation and maasive debts it does not appear very rich pickings...

Your thoughts...

AS far as i am aware-no confirmation of hammond and gregory signing. (or any others).Another name banded about a couple of weeks ago was Godden from Deal

I was hoping that there may have been some official'signing/player news' earlier this week.

There again, we already have a squad of 18 players.

It does seem a case of 'quantity 'this year.

Maybe that will be the right thing though.

All I am saying, as others have, surely we should give our backing to the club and these young lads when many have yet to see them perform? Seems reasonable to me!

To suggest Observator is JJ is a bit stupid Alan when you can see his ip address and know who it is.

I think his post have been quite fair. This forum seems to be taken over by die hard fans who don't like any other views than their own.

This Forum is for everyone who has registered and their views are valid whatever they say including all you who have been taking happy positive pills.

There seems to be two different groups of supporters now. On one side its the realists and on the other side the dillusionals unfortunatly we need a realist moderator aswell.

Already im un popular! I feel Like Jim Ward!

Come the first game of the season whoever is wearing the shirts I will be behind them all the way, worrying that the club will fall short does not hinder my want for them all to succeed Alan!

same for all kent teams, well nearly all...

Up the Gate I agree Michael, the friendlies however less glamourous are eagerly awaited more than ever...

Shame the friendlies Vs Ramsgate are no more, would be a real test and a great money spinner for both clubs and yes it would be a physical game but every game at this level is tough.

Whitstable will be a good game, just been looking at their site, they have made some positive additions to the squad and ended the season last year as the top form team with Dover. And seeing Mr O'Connell return to the gate with his great wakering side will be good.

There is no realistic or dillusional supporters yet imo, as we have not seen the team play together to truly say how we will do. I however do reckon that when looking at the larger picture a lot of us are concerned i know i am, but that is because we are trying something new. However i also look at the positive side of things and think that things may not be as bad as what they first seem and I prefer to be positive at this moment in time.

I believe Alan is being the realist bigtw. Fact is that these lads have been signed. Dillusionals believe that Margate should carry on playing big wages to players that can't even get us out of the Ryman Premier.

10 days is all any of us have to wait now, to see just how "classy" these young lads are.

OBSERVATOR IS DEAD RIGHT these boys will not be anywhere near the level needed, unless at least 6 experienced players are signed relegation is not a possibility its definate.the only one from last season who is good enough is ryan peters and possibly dan young, the rest were anywhere near ryman premier standard.

It appears that over the last few days anybody who shows concern about what is happening is being lambasted. This is a forum and people are concerned. I am a little worried that the moderators are "Towing the party line" as they are afraid of what the players might think. I have known alan for years and I know how passionate he is about the club but we must have freedom of speech, whatever anybodys view is (except Ramsgate supporters) Nobody on this forum has slagged off the players. Some have voiced their concerns over their ability to cut it in the Ryman league but there is a difference. Observator is 100% correct, and has said nothing different to what a lot of others have said. People will support young players, we would all like to see local players, but they must be supported by experienced players. If people are afraid of them losing confidence before the season starts, then what will happen after we have lost our few opening games. I guarantee they will be fully supported and encouraged at the start, but fans are a fickle bunch and when we are out of the FA cup and trophy by inferior opposition come December, as has happened over the last two seasons, and sitting in a modest position in the league I guarantee there will be very little sympathy for them then and they will have to be a lot thicker skinned than worrying about a few words on the forum. I, as is everybody else, am concerned and hope we can get the players required, but without one signing so far that concern is growing. Lets all remember we ALL want the best for MFC and that is why passions are high.

Let us all get behind the team. I for one think that the team

can survive in this leaque. In my playing days the club that i

played for went down this route of youth with alarms bells ringing, The supporters bemused,And very anti the whole set up.

But we suprised the non believers, silenced the critics and held

our own and why.We knew that week in, week out the belief and the determination was there not just the 11 on the pitch the fans gave us a huge lift. They doubted the set up of the youth policy, they gave us stick, but week in week out they came through the turnstiles, rain or shine. In that my first season at the club we finished a credible 5th.The team in 2 seasons won the leaque, and we were promoted.I then went on to play at the

highest level in football. Get behind MFC,your team will do you

proud. Promotion unlikely, relegation no.Hard working, determined,

belief,commitment yes.

Oh ye of little faith...............I agree with DHF. Counting chickens an all that. You may be suprised with the current signings and those still to do so.In fact you will be suprised. More importantly the current squad is looking very good. Fast, strong and with good ability all over the pitch.Thats how things were in training this week anyway. But the proof for all will be the first, and second, PSF.

I'll settle for positive results in the league games.

i do like the 'strong' bit though (assuming correct) as the Ryman is a very physical league and there is a fear that the younger guys will simply be out-muscled,no matter how much ability they may have.
