Yes he did together with Paul Kavanagh and Brian Suchley and it was announced in last Friday's edition of the Romford Recorder.

OK I used the wrong word but there IS a proper way to go about things which, in this case, is through the manager of the club that the player in question is already officially registered with and this procedure was not followed.

Paul Martin is on record as having stated that he would not stand in the way of any of his players who received an offer to play at a higher level.

So why go behind his back? That is what sticks in the craw!

Even if the manager you are obviously unhappy with did proceed in your previously stated 'proper' way of approaching the player, then what difference would it make had he done so, as you explained previous how Paul Martin would not stand in any players way if on the receiving end of a higher level offer and as TIC stated 'players want to play at a higher level' it would just be a slightly different route to the inevitable imo.

This type of activity as previously posted by a number of different members of the forum, is exercised at every level in football be it Step 5 of non-league to the Premiership and i also believe this to be in abundance. (so Romford are not by any means alone in such a position)
As unfortunate as it may or may not be, it you must learn to either accept or get used to it as it will never stop happening.

I did say that I would not post again on this subject but have to come in on what you say above. It seems to me that you are suggesting that the end always justifies the means!

History is littered with examples of similar excuses which caused massive suffering to humanity.

Nuff said!

My post is not an excuse. It was just stating the obvious.

You seem to be taking exception to the club you follow as this happens to a lot of clubs and i have not seen another post complaining of such activity directed at our club previous.

Having said that, i have not indicated weather i believe it to be right or wrong.

My point being basic, get over it because it will happen.

On a more positive note, good luck to yourselves next season.

I just wanted to raise the issue as a point of principle and as a reminder to ALL clubs that (as far as Romford FC is concerned at least) understanding and co-operation is just a 'phone call away.

Oh, and by the way, CRFC never thanked us properly for handing you the league title last season. drinkies

TB&G just to put the record straight Matt came over and trained with us on tuesday, He has signed nothing !

I am not going to go into how he came about training with us, But i believe you need to be very carefull in the way you go about slandering my club and the people that work hard to make it successfull.

All players are fair game (ask Trenks) unless contracted at this time of the season, read yer handbook !

And by the way you "handed us" feck all !

Registration forms mean sod all tea bag old boy. It just means if Burgs wants to sign for another ESL side then he needs to get you to release him as you hold his ESL registration.

Maybe its not completely right but its the way its always been. If Romford are concerned about it that much then stick your players on proper FA contracts and then no one can touch them or talk to them.

Boss did you send Ginge on a scouting mission last night?? He got a cab all the way to Wakering to watch our game !!!

the problem tbag is you carnt hold back a player from wanting to play at a higher level. But how concord conducts its affairs in the transfer market is appauling. wither the player is on contract or not it only takes a phone call to be polite to ask.this problem is not a new problem, because concord who are now promoted are doing it now,did it last year and for the last couple of years. they are like the pide piper with the lure of money to attract the best players in the league as the carnt seem to produce there own. you only have to look back when i told you all last time.when the rep side was critised buy the forum as the league wouldnt have anything to do with it.you know why because its a concord tapping up exersize... i know of at least 3 eton manor players that where apporached that day so golden boots wheres you morals now

Where football differs from other businesses is that people become emotionally involved and views are tainted by the feelings that people have for clubs.

What has happened here doesn't seem so bad to me. Sure, a phone call to the manager would have been nice, but in reality it's basically up to the player as he is not contracted to the club. If he fancies a go at a higher level then why not?

When it comes to football people make the mistake of thinking that because they care deeply about a club, others should as well, that is not a crticism, it's what keeps clubs going, the people who care about them, and this means that when someone does something like this it can feel like a big disappointment, but if you take a step back you can see it's really a natural thing to happen and not necessarily wrong.

emfc13 - you have the wrong end of the stick pal, I am a player, I have nothing to do with the signing of any players, and my morals have nothing to do with any events that happen.

Point is, players sign for other clubs, however they come about that is up to the manager and the player, so what if players get approached, I just think it smack a bit of jealousy of a club that is going places...

The calibre of players I have seen in training with both the 1st team and ressies so far, and I'm sure a few haven't signed yet..... (Romford can poach if they want.....) has been most impressive...

No butt-licking, but all credit must go to Ant, Scopesy, Cowley, Danny Clare, and Thorney, who are in the process of creating a thriving club, with a great atmosphere and work ethos, one of the best and comprehensive pre-seasons I have been part of...

It just seems when you're on the way up, people want to bring you down....

So in conclusion, get over it....
