anyway...apologies first cos I know you dont really wanna know but I want to share with you the emotions of Saturday when the little ol' scruffy urchins were promoted to the Rymans Premier league......and..

 

not such a big deal to many but from the Rymans 3rd to the Premier in one year is an enormous achievement regardless of your views on our club.....aaahhh...but....

 

loadsomoney some will say.......well...not quite true...yes there has been investment at the club but most of it goes on rebuilding the decrepit old Stadium.....and yes...we have contracted players but on nowhere near the dosh that is mooted......anyway...less of that......for the first time this season...I was nervous because we had to win and I was up and about early and at the ground for me breakie at 10am.........anyway....

 

I'm rambling....we won the game 5-3....we got promoted and the ticker tape went up all over the ground and the band played the great escape (which it surely was) and the balloons and red white and black ribbons were everywhere....the 600 odd fans came onto the pitch and surrounded the players...and.....well...as you can imagine...a fantastic party afterwards and......

 

I had a little cry.......and....

thanks pabird....not feeling guilty.......its just that....

 

saturday was the end result of a lot of hard work and rebuilding and sometimes its just a bit overwhelming when you achieve your goals...although we plan for and aspire to these things there's always something that prevents us from truly believing.......takes time to settle down and take it all in.....

Congrats. you could tell something big was in the offing. You had adverts on Talk Sport every bloody day. Unforuntately the sound quality was so crap all you could make out was that Bryco were sponsoring you!

well how did you know it was us advertising then...? aaaahhh....you see you did know so they did work.....

 

thing is....we got really lucky and tapped into Bryco's freebie spots which they earn from volume bookings.....

 

now then....an interesting one this which no one has queried....does radio advertising work towards increasing attendances....well.....dont really know for sure but our average gate last year was 55 and this year nearly 300....so...allowing for success on the pitch and a promotion campaign .....which will always increase gates...I'd say it does.......but a warning....

 

if we had to pay for them at full value.....I'd have to say don't do it if you can't afford to write it off to goodwill.....

 

anyway thanks for the congrats....parties over and a game to win tonight.....I still fancy nicking the championship of the woodpeckers...which would probably be a bit unfair as they've led all season but the league tables never lie and who said its a fair world..... <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
