If you want some local real ale, go for The Rose. Walk up the steep hill past The Plough & on the opposite side of the road. Call in Euro Kebab if you want. When you come out, turn right into the side road & you will see Northfleet Railway Station. Walk towards it & take the left lane uphill. You will see The Rose in front of you.

 

If you haven't finished your kebabs, the landlord will probably be ok with you finsihing them inside & his Jack Russell will help you out on this. Basic, spit & sawdust place. Landlord a typical rough & ready suvverner, but friendly & the Shepherd Neame is usually in great condition. Just make sure you ask for the cask version, as some have keg/smooth equivalents.

 

Last time I recommended this to away supporters I found my usual seat taken by geeky looking Oxford supporters. Happy to do so on this occasion, though, as I shall be starting the 1st day of my 2 week holiday in Slovenia. Hoping Radio Kent have coverage. The hotel has wireless internet. Anything to annoy Mrs UG.
