Gravesham Big Day Out

Recommended Posts

just got back from a day down on the prom and what a lovely day it was, just one big shame and that being why didnt the club have a stall down there

Even Charlton had a stall in GRAVESEND!!

really winds me up that, Alan Parker was down there giving posters out about the club but he should of had more support from the club just annoys me a little

Another thing my start-date didn't give me time to get involved in, unfortunately. It's already in my calendar to prepare for next year.

I'd be grateful if anyone could post details of any future events that might be useful getting involved in. I'll go through possibilities with the club staff but any additional information would be useful.

Sorry me again. Try here. The Regatta would be a good start.

This is only a suggestion but with all the new housing being built in the area (thousands of houses/flats) could the Fleet not strike a deal with some of the housing developers. Take the new Springhead Park development for example. For each property sold the new owners would receive a free Fleet Season Ticket to the end of the season.

The cost of the ticket would be subsidised by the Property Developers and the Fleet get a load of new supporters. Only a thought!

Rather than tag on to a existing event invent your own, so that you (the club)can control where and when. Who or what takes part. A free concert at fleet leisure, or Ask the council to let us use the prom, Make money on catering, stalls etc etc. Call it the Ebbsfleet Utd festival. Make the clubs name a well know house hold commodity in it's own right, rather than tagging onto a event under someone else's banner.

I understand that PR has never been the club's forte, but with the new Chairman and the new CEO starting tomorrow, let's look forward instead of bemoaning the past. The CEO is a hands-on guy and with your input on things that should be done, he's going to see to it that in the future, we stop missing these opportunities. Let's be optimistic that tomorrow starts a new positive chapter for EUFC.

Excellent sentiments rsheard, but right from the very early days MyFC people asked what was needed, and were told that the club never promoted themselves well to the local population. Bearing in mind that the club managed to sell over 20,000 tickets to the locals, this was an ideal time to build on whatever momentum this had raised.

Am quite willing to cut DD some slack here, as he hasn't even got his chair warm yet, but right from the beginning of the MyFC scheme, the "Wisdom of the Masses" line had been quoted, so where were these 'masses' when it came to organising something for the weekend?

How hard would it have been for someone to wear the "Hooky" outfit and wandered around handing out flyers for next Saturday and fixture lists?

Fair play - I bumped into one fella wandering round handing these out, but he's not going to have the same impact as a one-handed pirate!!

I saw plenty of ManUre, Chelscum and assorted other shirts - not many Fleet tops at all... Has the FA Trophy been forgotten already?

I do absolutely agree 100% with you Stonebridge Red, the club don't do enough to promote themselves enough but it's easy to sit here criticising. If somebody knew about the maritime thing today, say a week ago then they should have said something.

We need a central point that the club will look at and where we can all post messages saying what is taking place so the club can act upon it.

I don't know enough about what the club do so I can't sit here and say they should be doing more to promote themselves, there may be just about enough of them to do the jobs that absolutely must be done and can not afford the luxury of extras like getting down to the prom on a Sunday.

We have Cheryl as the Office Manager

Rachel as Football in the Community and Programme Editor

Greg as Sales & Marketing

That's it for full-time office staff.

I have no idea of any of the workloads yet, although from what I've seen so far everyone is pretty busy.

It's a top priority to be sorted.

It's definately something to think about for next year.

I was wandering around in my Fleet shirt on Saturday and was amazed at the number of people who asked me when the fixture list came out, when was the first game etc.

Maybe the people of Gravesend are more interested than we think, we just need to tell them about things that are going on. For instance, no one knew that Saturday was a Family Fun Day and I didn't see any adverts in the local newspapers either. If we don't tell people, they won't come.

HJA, I wasn't critisising, it was more of an observation, I know that the people in the office work hard and do a good job and yes they are understaffed, yes it does seem that some opportunities are missed but maybe if we, the supporters, chip in with some useful information on upcoming events, this could be a step in the right direction.

I understand where you are coming from, but if your anything like us you get loads of freebie papers through your door! Which have a lot of local news up coming events and other features. So finding out about most major local events cannot be that hard surely ? Unless they go straight in the bin of course

I know you wasn't critisising mate and I was trying not confront you but instead to start a debate.

To be honest I do occasionally read these but often enough to form an opinion so couldn't really comment. To kind of contradict myself the lack of interest in th press is something the club should be looking at sorting, asap.

Digitalis, can I ask what are you views on two members of the office staff taking holiday on what is a critical time of the year? Would you permitt when the office staff can take holiday?
