I firmly believe that the MyFC purchase of the Fleet can work to the benefit of all, provided that PTT is not part of the deal .

I have been involved and interested in football from the 1950's (including standing at Stonebridge Road in the freezing cold in my school cap and in short trousers with my rattle!!!!).

I cannot remember any club being successful if the owner(s) or Chairman interfere with the selection of the team, they all start slipping down the table. You pay a Manager to do the job and just as in all walks of life he then lives or dies by his results.

If the Manager gets fed up because of PTT and leaves who do you think will take a job which involves his hands being tied regarding team selection?

Enjoy being a part owner and supporter of your own team but leave team selection to the manager - you saw what happened last season, Success!!

My main fear when looking at the PTT issue is that if it gets tossed out completely it could really hurt the number of MyFC members which in turn will hurt our club financially. It is my believe that a PTT system can be worked out so that the manager (who knows the players the best) could effectively be the one picking the team while still giving the membership of MyFC the feeling that they are picking the team and being active in the progress of the club. Of course all of the above is speculation as PTT hasn't happened yet and the membership renewal time for MyFC doesn't come until February so we will all see what happens between now and then and hopefully it will work out for the best.

It would be very difficult if not impossible to implement during friendlies, as the chances are a lot will be on trials etc

It is supposed to be happening for the Charlton match as per an article on MyFC. (I'm talking as a MyFC member here...)

Liam offers a squad of 16. Members PTT. Liam adjusts the team and explains why.

My main interest is to see how many actually participate.

I know that, you know that, nearly everyone else knows that... Least said the better about those who INSIST on this being pushed through no matter what the outcome!

In my experience our squad for friendlies usually totals around 20. I suggest that Liam just names everyone and we pick everyone to facilitate the point of the games.

I am speaking here as a rational human being, MyFc member, season ticket holder, Fleet fan and the voice of reason. This will probably be a minority view then.

The changes in life always leave some people unhappy, I just want to see The Fleet be all it can be and be a great positive influence in the local community for years and years to come and I know that the more financial resources at our disposal will help facilitate that end.

Pray tell the miracle that MyFC are going to conjure up, to influence the local community(which have been apathetic towards the Club for years)for years and years to come, by a bunch of people that are far from local?
The money and fame from the Trophy win?
What will be the response when after a short time, the gates are back down to less than a thousand?
The thousands of new members that are flocking to join?
How many will not be resigning?
Will the numbers maintain the Status Quo?
Another old saying...............Don't count your chickens before they hatch!

We should be allowed to pick the chord.

With a band like Quo there aren't many chords to choose from so mostly we would pick the same chords as them anyway, what harm could it do?

If we can't pick the chord I am leaving.

Now I will have to find my Bert Weedon "Play in a day" book, to try and find a chord they play! frown

AFF not worry I am not counting any chickens, I was merely stating what I hope would ,and possibly could, be the long term situation for our lovely club. I'm no fool, we have a long, long road to travel before we get anywhere near this. We have loads of unknown factors that need to be sorted over time and I, also, know it takes resources to achieve lofty goals. I prefer to keep a positive long term outlook and hope and work toward the best. If our club is able to actively and regularly reach out and make our community a better place then all sides should benefit in the long run. After all we all want the best for our club now don't we?
