Well Observator-you've hit the ground running with your first three 'slaps in the face'/reality check posts.

I do fear you are on balance, more right than wrong though.

Still 5 weeks to get Lampard and Ronaldo signed though , so not throwing myself off the cliff face until 15th August;and for all we know, our management team may be master tacticians/coaches/fitness guru's /organisers.

Up the 'Gate

As I just said to Alan I hate how negative i sound but im truly a realist to the situation at Margate.

Lampard? far to old if you are to read the posts on possible local players!

Forget the suicide Michael, the club were in a very similar position not so long ago. They will recover but I think the club superiors will need to learn to walk before they run, you need to build a club over time not over night.

Im very dissapointed the plans put in place by previous directors chairman etc to build various csinos hotels etc, I always felt there attention was more making money and using the popular football club as a smoke screen to fool the council... what do you think?

Alan I apologise if my first few posts were negative, Ive bit my lip for a while on a few issues...

On a positive note, I also feel the appointment of Mr Ashby could be a master stroke and to capture established names like Yorath and Southall to be involved is a master stroke if be it very lucky! who's thoughts would you entertain? Ward or Southall!!

Tony as your young lad used to play for us and be criticised how do you think our lads feel reading this before the season starts?

THat is what I am trying to get across at this moment, OK fine once we have seen some games!

No-one is right/no-one is wrong.

Its just 'interesting'

Surely debating different views is what the forum is all about.

Be very boring debate if we all went around saying how great everything was.

I'm sure like all of us,Observator will be fanatically giving the team and management full support on 16 August.

I would also say that mental toughness is part of the experince of signing a first team contract. Some of the lads may not be able to take the criticism-sometimes justified/sometimes not-but frankly- they will have known its going to be out there at the time of signing contracts,no doubt will have been told what to expect by both BA and their parents-and if they can't stand the heat-should not have signed in the first place.

They will always get full support from me though, but one will remain entitled to debate their relative merits (no different to filling in a customer survey form in a restaurant/hotel )

sorry-i think i have digressed slightly

Alan, you kinda hit a part of my point on the head, these boys will need to be able to take the negative, take the abuse from fans they need to face their doubters to survive at this level. They will be moving from non competetive reserve team football focused on development to premier football which is competetive, cut throat and result driven. Im not a fan of the sink or swim method, it can work for one or two players going into a team like Robins Trotts last year but 6, 7 or 8 players is a problem...

At the time he played for Margate he was slagged off on the forum and read it. Mostly he laughed because he is a big boy and can handle himself and any critism given.

most of these post are not about individuals but the club and the way its been done. I believe on several occations it has been said that supporters will give these lads support but fear for them.

Stopping threads because a couple of people have complained should never happen. This is an open forum and should be left that way. Posts should only be deleted if things get personal or abusive not because someone says a player is in there opinion cr-p.

The threads were stopped because they were going over very old ground again and not needed at this present time. The person in question needs to take it up with the club, as to my knowledge he hasn't yet! Most people on here were just fed up with it starting again (not a couple).

As for abuse being called a Welsh Nazi, sheep shagger etc could mean I could have deleted but chose not to as I too am big enough to handle it.

Hmmm, given there seems to have been a little rewriting of history in the latest glorious Margate revolution...

I have always loved the young guns and given them my support, but how did this myth come about that the former players were only here for the paycheck? Can anyone say that of Jimmy, getting the cr*p kicked out of him by players with a minus score on his talent every week and then coming back for more? Or Pinno, who ran and ran, and loved it here? And I seem to recall that Jay said at some point last season that he loved being back at Margate and would like to end his career here. And big Rob, who understood the thanet rivalry and gloried in it? And our Deano, railroaded out of the club, our longest seving player,on a blatant lie? How we blithely let these talents go to harry us in opposition beats me.

But we are where we are. I am reading a book at the moment about the Busby Babes, and yes, they were all young players with talent, and were blended into a formidable team. I do hope that we can emulate that, but like many on here I have some reservations rather than blind hope. And I have been watching a fair bit of football at their former level, so realistically they do have quite a hill to climb.

By the way, that does not stop me from supporting the team.

There should be room for everyone to have their say, unless it is personally abusive.

Agree about JJ , Jay , Pinns and Rob but like i said in another post where were we 5 yrs ago and where are we now , this is the bit that has F,,ked up alot of us the sucess we had was amazing and now its gone and some people can put up with it others can not , i have only watched Margate for the past 10yrs but ive seen them at the top of the tree only to slip down to a point of no return ALMOST .

Now we have a desent set up in management things can slowly take off. With a wealth of experience on the bench for 90 mins it will be nice to hear some shouting and passion coming from it weather it be Ashby or Smith i don`t care but these two seem to not be two people who will keep there gobs shut for the whole match . Other teams that come to HDP with a gobby boss are the ones that walk away with the 3 points so all the grief we give them don`t work because they have the last laugh on us because there has been no passion in the team bar the for mentioned jj, jay, pinns and rob maybe now its our turn to have some . Hessie has done it at Dover , Dartford are on a high , Tonbridge are going in the right direction and even the TOTS have rose above us so now its maybe our turn to rise to the challenge a much harder way than other teams but it may well work over time not over night .Up the Gate .

Now im sure someone will kick off over my words but ive had my say they can have there`s ive got no problem with that but we`ve all got one thing in commen we all love Football , its a funny ole game . Jumpers for goalposts you no all that .
