I personnally think they will astound most, especially the oppositon. All I can say to everyone is let's watch the pre-season games and see if Ashby uses his "AFTERBURNERS" because they are literally like rockets.
Some say I talk nonsence but the proof will be in the pudding. These lads play some of the best football I've ever watched. So long as they are encouraged to play their natural game and come out of their shells we will all reap the rewards.
I still believe we need Corbishley, Young, Morris and Moir to compliment them though, especially through this first season.

GO ON LADS GO OUT THERE AND PLAY WITHOUT FEAR AND SHOW US ALL JUST HOW GOOD YOU ARE!

Hippy I have to agree with you here. As I said earlier, these lads scared the pants off of me last night. I've gotta say I was slightly concerned but after last night I can't wait untill next season.PROVE THE DOUBTERS WRONG LADS. I think they'll frighten the life out of some of the older players in the league. Have faith in them ladies and gents and wait and see what side goes out on the first day of the season. No Negativity now please.

MM'Following tragedy and adversity,1958 saw the emergence of the Busby babes.

50 years on we have Barry's Blue Babes'

I understand the optimism and spirit of your comparison. The Busby Babes were the result of Man Utd's youth policy whereby a team of scouts scoured the country for young talent. Gradually the youngsters were brought into the first team. In 1958 eight of the Busby Babes died and that was the end of the Busby Babes. It was only when Denis Law, George Best and others joined two survivors of Munich, Bobby Charlton and Bill Foulkes that they became successful in the mid 1960s culminating in the 1968 European Cup victory over Benfica.

Ok-i got my history slightly back to front.

We also ended up with a player from that youth policy of course-the hugely talented and respected-and sadly missed Bob Harrop.

It will still be Barry's Blue Babes for me next season.

Of course the word 'Babe' has an entirely different and much more interesting concept these days-the bluer the better

Instead of scouring the country-he and his team of 'scouts'-MW,TH,TY,PS,NS have scoured the county.

You never know -it may just be the start of something good.

bigtw don't forget it's not just the reserves.

We've still got SCS, Smith, Peters, Coleman, Quain, Axon, plus we've picked up P.Smith and Hickman. So there's 8 before we start to filter some of last years reserves in.

I'm not saying we're likely to win the league this season. Yet us filtering the youth and reserves into our 1st team set up has to start somewhere.

Do you not agree?

Quain Axon and Hickman were mainly resis last year. I suspect he (Ashby) will pickup a few left over players who don't get signed for other clubs late on just before the season starts. I'm sure he won't commit managerial suicide.

Thats what i'm assuming too -and thus until the last week pre-season-remain optimistic that we will have a squad capable of keeping MFC out of relegation zone.

I would like to see it earlier rather than later though, so that the team can gel in the friendlies-rather than start on 16 August and take a couple of months to settle into a pattern-losing unecessary and vital points in the interim

Seems that until the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse show up next week certain people on this forum will not be happy.

Still five weeks from the season start and we are down in the Kent League already

OK so we have sh1t odds from someone, more a good reason to take the odds.

Balls to these odds. I'm not a betting man. The only reason we are favourites to go down is because the players signed are not over paid, over rated big names. I hope we get Maidstone first game of the season and give the old players a mighty shock. This way some of you may have a little more faith.

The year we won the Southern League and went into the Conference we started the season with 1 point out of 12 and did not get going until the 5th game.

The doom and gloom lot on here would have been there calling for Chris Kinnear's head no doubt, along with sacking the board and preparing for life in the Thanets Works League

Looking forward to the seasons start and giving the team a bloody chance at least

These players have nothing to lose. They have no reputation outside of Thanet. They probably do not know the Jimmy Jacksons and Jay Saunders of this world and to be honest they probably don't care. I've played for teams with less experience than our opponents and by pure grit, passion and fight we have come through beeting (said to be) better opposition.

If this can happen in the lower leagues why can it not happen in the Ryman. I didn't see much last season that impressed me. As far as i'm concerned Jackson, Saunders, Mckimm, Pinns have all had there day. Onwards and upwards.

Not saying over the hill but past there best. I agree Saunders was a good player but players come and go thats football. We all have to accept that this is the way Margate are going so if you are true supporters you should give these lads your support. They could be the next big thing especially the younger ones as bigger clubs may offer them oportunities and create big money for the club. Im looking forward to seeing Heath against Ryman strikers. Quite frankly I know he's good enough and far better than Smith.

Has been with us - particularly in pre-season - a number of times in the past. Never made it into CK's teams.
