Blues add three to squad ........

I worry about them too, making the step up, but most of them having been playing together for a few years now, through the youth teams so know each other's game very very well. In addition to this they have the arrogance of youth, they're not afraid of reputations or anybody on the pitch. Just hope they have the skill and spirit to overcome the knocks and heavy treatment they will get from the more seasoned players out there! What players we have that do have some experience of this league will have to support the youngsters, as will we the supporters, it's going to be long hard season.

COME ON YOU BLUES!

I think the long hard season is the valid point.

There is a massive difference for these guys playing on a saturday afternoon with the sun on their backs, to losing heavily on a cold wet night in November in essex;where they get home at 1am-,have sacrificed going out with mates/ girlfriends, have college/work next day-and then training again.

(will their parents allow it even ?)

Will they have the mental stamina to cope with that stuff throughout the winter months

Can`t remember too many sunny days, I do remember cold, windy and wet days after a 2 hour drive seeing players getting the cpap kick out of them by people who were not there for their skill on the ball. Most of these lads have been playing since they were 7 or 8 and have the heart. Whilst I and some others might be wearing rose coloured glasses here what else is there. These lads are going into the unknown and will do their best, time will tell, we must not write them off before a the first whistle is blown.

I think you must have had to many drugs MM. comparing these to Busby babes.

These are not all young lads but lack experiance themselves Harker 25 (Kent league 1 ) Heath 27 (Kent league 1 and sunday league) Hickman 26 ( Kent league prem) these are the ones who are there to bring the young lads through. The only lad with experiance is Louis Smith and how many times over the last two seasons has he been slated for his performances and he is hardly a leader at the back.

As for Alex his opinion changes with the weather I just hope for the lads sake you don't all start turning on them when it all goes tits upwards. It will be the boards fault and no one else

they have mis managed this club and over spent for far to long.

They have throw these lads to the slaghter. If they had done what was suggested 3 years ago and brought 3 or 4 through at a time we would have a young local foundation of players already instead of desprately throwing a team together expecting miracles.

God help the club because if this all back fires they will lose so much local support I think the club will be finished.

I played 5 a side last night against some of the lads mentioned above, some of the reserves and youth. Be it yes I played in goal but these lads are incredible. They are fast, very skillful and made me feel old myself at only 28. In there finishing of the ball they quite literally made me look stupid and I regard myself to be one of the better sunday league keepers. What i'm trying to say is yes, maybe we are lacking a few experienced players but I guarantee you if these lads can show the skill and passion they did last night and even more, we are all in for a mighty fine treat and shock next season. This mentality of having over rated, highly paid, big named footballers has got to go. They don't think like that over the over side of the island. Maybe we are like this because of our Conference past.

Give these lads a chance. Thanet's level of football has come a lond way in 5-6 years and now at last they have a club tht will give them a chance. Many of us did'nt recieve the right training at youth as teams were run by dad's but now these teams are run by proffesionally qualified coaches and these lads are starting to come through.

Incidently I saw Pat Mullins being trained by Neville Southall last night. Nice to see Nev coaching some of the kids in goalkeeping earlier in the evening too.

If these lads have been playing together for a couple of years they will have picked up an understanding for each others game and will help them play as a unit.

I will stay supporting them and encourage them when things get tougher. In addition if I hear unfair criticism from the terrace I will make sure that fan or fans realise their mistake

I think you are out of order here Alex. Because some people voice concern doesn't make them idiots or support the club any less. A lot of the people commenting were supporting the club before you were born. And I dont think it 8 out of 10 them agree with you, there are a lot of people on here voicing concern. That doesn't mean they want failure. We have so far got a squad with very little experience. We have not had the reswerves and youth set up going long enough to have established players coming through. I have voiced concern myself, but on a positive side look at Aldershot this year. They were expecting a mid table finish with a squad average age of 21. They had bought some players up through the youth league and signed good young players from LEAGUE clubs. That is the difference, the youngsters came from higher division clubs, not lower division. They walked the league with a record points total and record number of wins in a season. HOWEVER they had experience in the squad as well which was the key to their success. I travel a long way to HDP for matches and so I want to see a team who at least can hold their own, but I dont see that at this time. There is still time I know, but we do NEED those experienced players or we will get relegated despite your eager optomism.

I'm concerned but am holding judgement until we know the final squad.

I think we do also need to take heed of BA's comments-as Peter Wells reminded us of:

that BA will make some loan signings of more experienced players.

he also said that he did not intend to play more than 3/4 younger players at anyone time.

I am (just) holding onto the dream that it won't be too bad afterall

I know what you mean by that and i was waiting someone to say something like that actually, thing is the players do not deserve to be put down before things have started. I know people are worried and i must admit i am slightly worried, but then i think to myself 'these players will be fighting for eachother week in week out and will be mixed in with experienced players.' I will be very surprised if we struggle against relegation next season. Although i was saying different before the end of the season, but everything was very negative, but Ashby and the rest of the coaching side sound very positive and they seem up for this aswell.

I think we will have to wait a couple of months to really start to see things fall into place

These lads play the game at such a pace and all with an abundance of skill. Going forward they simply attack at a rate of knotts. A lot of the time 1 and 2 touch, interchanging their positions as they go. They seem to have a knowledge of where their mate is running before the runs even been made. Yet if they need to each and every one of them has the ability to beat a player, with some sublime skill.

I personnally think they will astound most, especially the oppositon. All I can say to everyone is let's watch the pre-season games and see if Ashby uses his "AFTERBURNERS" because they are literally like rockets.

Some say I talk nonsence but the proof will be in the pudding. These lads play some of the best football I've ever watched. So long as they are encouraged to play their natural game and come out of their shells we will all reap the rewards.

I still believe we need Corbishley, Young, Morris and Moir to compliment them though, especially through this first season.

GO ON LADS GO OUT THERE AND PLAY WITHOUT FEAR AND SHOW US ALL JUST HOW GOOD YOU ARE!

If needed I'm sure he will, Buzzgate. Possibly though it's already become apparent, to Ashby, that he's got the best. Seeing it's the local lads that have been signed on the back of the trials that were held.

Last Season we had old legs that could just about manage 70 mins

football. This season we will get 90mins and these lads will

suprise a lot of doubters, I for one believe that these lads

will gel, And suprise a lot of the opposition. Agree that the

experience is of concern, But old legs on a cold night in

november against youth lacking experience, CMON YOU BLUES.
