Well he will go for free at the end of the season. So unless a club want him now surely they can all wait and sign him on a free?

A tidy sum of cash plus sell on clause should be the minimum, which would indicate selling him now. But thats a gamble considering our current strikeforce...

That's nice to hear that he has already announced he won't be staying, before the season has even started. If he feels like that in June, how will he feel in December? I'd call his bluff and see if we can get some cash now and a couple of players who want to play for EUFC.

I don't understand all the non-league politics at play here, of course. But he signed his contract for this year fairly early. That would seem to indicate his pleasure at remaining with the Fleet. What would be his motivation to make such a statement now, if he indeed made it?

The old art of "Tapping Up!"
A big club scout spots a promising player playing for a small club, make their interest(and big juicy worm wage offer)known to the player(illegally), then the player tells the small club, he is no longer interested in playing for them!
Widely known to happen, often hard to prove!

I wouldn't worry unduly just yet.

I've got the newspaperarticle in front of me and it contadicts its self in saying that he has told L.D he "wont be signing a new deal" and then further on it says he "has made it clear he is in no hurry to put pen tp paper when his deal runs out at the end of next season."

Its summer and the NLP like all great rags enjoy a bit of speculation when there's not a lot of news around. he is an "up and coming" and is good material for a story. Funny how it's come up with the same clubs that "always" seem to be interested in Non-League players. Charlton, QPR, Plymouth and not forgetting ......you guessed it Peterbrough!

Dont forget, for all his undoubted talent, he hasn't played a full season yet and I, for one wont be convinced until I've seen him score a headed goal as I have my doubts about his ability in that part of his game!

I think the phrase "Raw talent" is most appropriate here!

Andy, he scored a 'thumping' header at Exeter in the Satanic Shield last season, he is unlikely to get too many headed goals though unless we go back to playing with wingers who put in decent crosses, we haven't really played that way since Roy Essandoh's first season when Moussa Sidebe and Ben Walshe set him up for a few.

I've been reading these posts and would like to add the following.. John has an 'agent' who will, and is, badgering for a move to take place(probably commission driven). The lad wants to play at the highest he can asap and thats understandable. He has yet to be advised that a big fish in the proverbial is possibly his best move at present. If indeed that is the case, although is open to spec'n and argument,we will have him for 1 more season at best. Going to a higher club could be reserve football or the bench until experience kicks in.In my humble wotsit he should stay and increase his reputation with 25+ goals to help his C.V. He also needs to be aware that he has a better agent and mentor in, again my opinion, Liam and they need to sit down and thrash this all out. Largely any outcome will be strongly influenced by John's comfort with the club and his confidence with Liam.I for one would like to see him stay for this season at least, and beyond, until he has matured and developed further to be worth more to himself and the club both by reputation/acheivment and ability . He is a great lad and deserves the best, but timing and the right advice are paramount.
