Try Again - Reserves

Optimism has dwindled a bit- but hope remains-that we will still see an influx of quality and experienced players to supplement the enthusiasm, pace and skill of the younger guys.

That is as far as i recall what BA was setting out to do.I don't ever recall him stating that we would be playing in the ryman premier with last seasons reserve team.

Still 6 weeks to go-though would have liked to have seen more signings in place by now from outside the club so the guys can gel and get organised in pre-season.

It does increasingly look like that BA and his team are going to have to dosplay extraordinarily good coaching and organisational skills to help our younger players make the very significant step up about 5 rungs

I still-just-expect BA to sign some experience players who can 'walk' straight into the first team.

Thus -some of the younger first team squad players will still play for the reserves.

Thus-it seems to make sense to me that for the first two/three months, first and reserve team training are effectively the same thing with same players.

Thus-when the first team start training-is it midweek or next saturday-the 'reserves ' will in effect be training with them-especially now it is apparently 'locally' based.

Does that make sense ?

.....and thus, what about those players from last season who are not going into the first team. Are we to deduce then that if, as MM reports, training starts in the coming week those who have not been contacted since the trials at Canterbury are not wanted and can sign elsewhere.

Hi Hippy, you`ve hit the nail on the head, we are guessing.

Did'nt 'report' DG-just purely speculation on my behalf.

As you say-we are guessing.

Interesting and encouraging thing is how much interest there is both now and throughout last season in the reserves.

You rarley see debates about the reserves on other forums

Sorry if I have misunderstood your post MM, it` came accross as either Thursday or Saturday.

I think the reason there might be more interest, that is to say a few more people posting, is because there are more younger players (16 up-wards) getting a chance in reserves whos parents etc. still turn up to watch. Don`t forget that only a few seasons back MFC did not have an u18s MUSH side so there was no filtering through. Of course there is the other side of the coin, too many players who could develope but nowhere to put them, there are some good players out there. I chat to three of four parents and know that they also post, I`m sure this will now continue.

All being well next season will be my third with an active interest in reserve/u18 and looking forward to it being even better.

Depends how good the coaching and organisation is.

Thats the area which let Ashby'e predecessor down

Was not the major reason for Ramsgate's success last season the very good coach you had for most of the season , (results worsened when he temporarily left you )and have re-appointed

Realistically,i'd say,1-2 seasons maximum behind

Ian stop being such a prat and I wouldn't have too!

Your comments are always aimed at having a go at Margate or an individual, not in the least constructive, just destructive if our young lads look at this forum, which I am sure they do.

Thanks, glad you understand what i mean, id say 5, but if you think 1-2 i wont argue as this IS a forum where we are entitled to an opinion

We do not have to hear from a Ramsgate fan who only comes on here to be sarky either. After all if we went on your forum to criticise your team Mr Able would promptly pull the plug!

If you want to discuss things in an amicable way be my guest otherwise I will continue to delete anything I feel is unnecessary.

PS please note I did not delete your Welsh Nazi post as I do not care what you say about me but when it is our team I do.

I have to say that i personally believe IS usually adds value to the discussion by his posts -hence why i responded .

To me, the footballing topic was worthy of debate.

I alos firmly believe we need the balance of fans of other clubs posting on here .

Yes -his style is sarcastic-but we all have our own style and who am i to judge what style someone should write in.

I would say that his arguably racist post above was minimally uneccesary-however tongue in cheek it was meant to be-and credit to BGA for not biting on it.

Overall though, i do believe IS adds value to discussion and often poses questions that take us out of our myopic blue world, which is a positive imo.

To be fair-the question Ian asked is alot more sensible than one of my postings debating whether MFC should have female models displaying the new kit
