Ashford Town

Recommended Posts

Interesting article on RK this morning about the ownners of Ashford building a hotel at Homelands and upping the capacity to 5000 to bring it to Conference standard.

The objective is to raise the club to our level, using the income stream generated from the hotel.

Good luck to them, but it it does seem a bit of a gamble, considering Homelands is the back end of nowhere, although the ongoing developments around Ashford might encompass the area in due course.

It's good to have healthy competition.

Initial pictures look nice see here

In truth, the plan does seem a bit more cost effecvtive and realistic than our Championship standard stadium with no obvious associated income stream.

That thought had occurred to me, too, Stu. The whole area is part of the weald flood plain, house builders are already having trouble locating new builds because of the high level of flood risk.
Perhaps they will build the new ground on stilts!!

That's funny, I seem to recall the new ground being described as having 'The potential' to be UPGRADED to a Championship standard stadium...
