Went along to the Polish Club tonight and met up with Derek and confirmed our first signing ahead of the 2008/9 season.

 

There have been a number of players in contact who are keen to join us and a number of players are expected to sign with us shortly after the beginning of pre-season training on Tuesday 1st July. With the calibre of player Derek has spoken of in addition to last seasons squad, we will be a much stronger outfit for the coming season.

 

Along with the arranged pre-season schedule, work is being completed at Beaconsfield in all areas, things are moving very well ahead of the new season and it offers to be a very promising season.

 

We will be updating the squad page on the website towards the end of July once the signings are registered with the league and providing profiles for players, although you will no doubt recognise a number of the players.

Gary, by confirmed signing does that mean he has put to paper. If so, is there any reason why we cant know who the player is?

 

Also, are there any players from last years squad who you know are definately not signing?

As a word of notice, confirmed signings will be announced though the Official Site rather than through the forum. This is now the precedent with all news as we make more use of the Official Site as a focal point for information.

 

Admittedly Gary has said a player has signed and is a trusted source being on the management committee but don't take is as gospel until they are announced and listed under the squad profile list.

Unless joining the club on contract (unlikely) it is probably best not to announce to quickly. Even if forms are signed another club would only have to put in a 7 day approach for the player.

All the players we sign will more than likely be on forms only. Only in exceptional circumstances will players be put onto contract.

 

As the player signed has put pen to paper on Southern League forms, we will confirm later in the summer. As KT says, should we announce it and a player then receives a silly offer from another club all they need to do is put in a 7 day approach.

It will be on the first Saturday of the season that you will know who is playing for Slough Town FC when Gary puts in the team sheet - until then it is pure speculation!
