The 2008/9 Season Gordon Brasted Trophy

Recommended Posts

Will this competition (which I understand was formulated for first round league cup losers to play in) be adapted for the bottom two sides in each of final league cup tables to play in on a home and away knock out basis while the top two teams proceed in the usual same format?

Wrong, I have actually found the new Zody. Has anybody been to an Essex 20/20 game at Chelmsford. If so, the bald bloke who does all the announcing and goes round the ground asking the kids where they come from.

Yes Triggs it is at the moment but Football Man who is a very knowledgeable bloke posted on another thread a little while when I put this idea forward that the Gordon Brasted was formulated as a repechage competition for first round losers when the league cup was run as a knockout competition itself.

So up you and get your facts right!

tbag or is it zody, i've played in the feckin comp for the past 5/6 seasons and as long as there are a limited amount of teams in the league it has been run this way, so what gonna change next season we havin a large influx of clubs, don't thinks so. feckin bootyshake

Just a good idea to get the teams who don't get past the group stages some extra games if you think about it.

But then thinking isn't probably one of your strengths. If you have any at all that is! evil

How sad that you have to resort to last season's results to support your lack of common sense.

Well! You're either B&P or EM. If the former let's see how you get on against us next season and if the latter you could well be playing for the Dockers but if if not let's see how EM get on against us too.

Cheers, mate! grin

The Harry Fisher Memorial Trophy (as it then was) was last played as a supplementary competition about 10 or 12 years ago. I'm sure League Chairman (one of the few more knowledgeable than me smile) can confirm exactly when.

I can't see why the Gordon Brasted cannot be a supplementary competition now. There seem to be enough clubs these days and, if the League Cup remains in group format, there are plenty of fixtures for each club.
