Ex Gate player JOHN KEISTER gives his "Dream Team" today in the NPL. For those who didn't get a copy(lord knows why I did wink ) he chooses from those that he has either played with or played against.

Some old "Gate" mentions in there!.

GOALKEEPER Glen Knight - (Cray Wanderers)

RIGHT BACK GREG OATES - (Chelmsford)

"He's an excellent defender but his real strength is his engine. He loves to get forward and chips in with a few goals.I remember him boring down the right wing and whipping in some dangerous crosses - I just wish I could got on the end of a few more of them".

CENTRE-BACK Craig Cloke - (Dover)

CENTRE BACK SAM SODJE - (Reading)

"Sam came to Margate as a young lad and he was a very raw talent but you could tell he was destined to make it big.It was only a matter of time before a league side came in for him and it was Brentford that got there first".

LEFT BACK DARREN ANNON - (Redbridge)

"Darren would bring good balance to his team. He's not so much about going forward but he is the most solid defender I've played with.He can play anywhere across the backline and is great at organising a back four".

MIDFIELD John Wallis - (Dover)

MIDFIELD JAY SAUNDERS - (Maidstone Utd)

"Jays another one I played with at Margate. He came from Gillingham and brought a wealth of experience with him.He can play in midfield or at the back and he's excellent at breaking things down. He's very strong,a bit of a non-league Claude Makelele".

MIDFIELD Andy Hessenthaler - (Dover)

FORWARD ROCKY BAPTISTE - (unattached)

"Rocky has so many different assets to his game that I had to include him.I played with him at Margate and he was fantastic at bringing other players into the game.He holds it up well and scores goals and it was great to see him run Liverpool ragged!"

FORWARD JEAN-MICHEL SIGERE - (Eastbourne)

"Siggy was a midfielder's dream to play with. He's such a a big lad but he's got such great feet. His touch is fantastic and defenders can't get the ball off him.It was so easy to play with him at Margate because when the ball went up to him you knew it was going to stick".

FORWARD DANNY HOCKTON - (Bromley)

"Danny just has a knack of getting on the end of things. He's not the quickest but he's one of those players that can be anonymous for the whole game and then pop up with the winner".

You weren't so bad yourself John. Looking forward to seeing you in the coming season.

Hmm, not sure about Siggy or Sam, though. When he was with us Siggy couldn't hit a cow's ar*se with a banjo, and what little we saw of Sam (before he always got sent off) were a succession of crude fouls (epitomised by one sending off whilst on a stretcher, having injured himself whilst assaulting a Fleet player). That was shortly before his 12 match ban for 4 red cards.

He has done well for himself, though.

Yes would have to agree that, during the Kinnear era, harnessing the players discipline was not one of our strong points. J.K. had (still has) a bit of trouble with the 'red mist' too. Ironically the Manager who did the most to hold back Sam's wild side was Martin Allen (who was a bit unruly himself).

JK was outstanding for Dover last season, a revelation in fact.I can see now why he was so highly rated by yourselves, his discipline was good too, just shows what a difference a new manager can make to a player.
