well said gavin...and that is it really in a nutshell...its not about personalities really is it.? its about a decent NL club that has been closed down by the present incumbents....the task in hand is to get that club back up and running and I am sure we all agree with that....

gavin has stated his aims above and has honourably agreed to support the old club if... as bilbo says... its going to be back up and running again...so I will second them...should the present owners of edgware ressurrect it then my offer to gavin and rhodes for a 2009 version stands for the original version and I am contactable by PM to discuss terms....

lets get this old club back up and running or let the boys form a new one....either way it needs doing and not talking about...

talks cheap... bricks build houses...smile

Well it sounds like it's going to be an interesting month on the 'Edgware front'. Having no ties with the old club apart from playing against them in my slimmer days ! I can't see it being revived as they've had plenty of time to sort out this mess before hand. I'm pinning my colours to the 2009 project & look forward to making it work. Rhodes, I've had brief pm's with Gav & Uncle but I think we should have a good chat. PM me your number & we'll get the ball rolling !

Fair play Syd, thats at least 5 people from this forum who have offered their services or help for Edgware 2009.

That's more than most have running their club. I see one or 2 clubs in the SSML Prem Division having people doing 2 or more jobs on the committee.

Haha very true Bosman. However I was at a Step 5 club where there plenty of Committee members, but all the work was left to one or two people !

It's always this way

1) Lots of people want to be involved but only a number of people actually do the work.

2) The hierarchy at the club only want them and their mates at the club, they allow people in for a short time and then let them go so they can take control again!

Hopefully where I end up this year I will be able to concentrate on my job and my job alone.

Prince Edwards Playing Field should be examined again Rhodesy for your new venture. PEPF has a bit of a sorry history, but Barnet will only be using some of the facility and Wealdstone have sorted the RM Social Club ground. The local authority should be tried again for a new Edgware with a new perspective perhaps? It's a bloomin big area and bags of room for a small sub-ground if the main one isn't available for any reason (a bit like Sittingbourne's ground in that respect I suppose). Worth a phone call or two if nothing else.

The club did try that, any chance of building a 'small sub ground' was scotched by the Environmental Agency 2 years ago. The land around the half built stadium is designated as a flood plain and therefore the EA will not sanction any changes to the open playing fields that are planned by Barnet FC. Incidently, the building of a 'green' stadium for Edgware Town at the Prince Edward site was the reason that Edgeware Developments were granted planning permission at the White Lion, that and the fact that they gave Harrow Council

Paul has just reminded me that there was an agreement in place to grondshare the main stadium at PEPF with Wealdstone FC. However, with the stadium STILL not built and Wealdstone's move to Grosvenor Vale, that was another plan that never got off the ground.

okay then...a brief update on the 2009 project..

I can confirm that we have a groundshare available..I can confirm that we have the sponsorship funds available for level 5/6 league football for at least one year.. I can confirm that we have two experienced managers available...I can confirm that we have an experienced chairman elect available..I can confirm that we have two experienced club officials available..

all we need to do now is decide on the club itself...will mr gregory do what he has said he will do and hand over ET now that it can be ressurected or will the new team form a new club...?

balls in mr gregory's court by the looks of it...if they really want ET up and running then lets hear from someone......!!

Syd the only reason I have not yet contacted you is becauuse we are working on other aspects of the club before we move on to the playing staff.

Have no worries we will make contact and a meeting will be arranged near the time for any likminded people who want to get on the playing / managment staff all in good time my friend smile

Very true, #2 is a perfect case in point in what happened at Edgware....There was gregory/Batten and thats it....the other's made the tea or stamped the car park tickets...they did NOTHING whatsoever to help the club run and never stepped forward when the club were going to the wall.

The new club will be free of cliques of the like and will be run by likeminded people with the passion / ambition and drive to make the club success it matters not where or what they did before as long as they drive is there to make the project a success.
