ROSS SMITH

Recommended Posts

I have just had a call from Ross Smith who is at his parents' place in Toronto. This summer he has signed to play for the Rochester Rhinos(New York) in the US League, known as the "A" league, one tier town from Mr Beckham and the MLS. The Rhinos give him a chance to be much closer to his family and when their season ends in October he may look to come back to the UK to play for a club on loan.

He sends his best wishes to all Fleetie people for the new season and thanks you for your support during two happy years at Stonebridge Road.

Good luck Ross, hopefully we'll see you again at Stonebridge Road soon.

Also, who else remembers Steve Guppy, who also plays for the Rochester Rhinos? (And yes, it is the same one!). As well as a player he's also their "Assistant Coach".

Go Rhinos!

They're currently second from bottom in the League. They do that annoying American thing where the put the points in the first column.

Ross will be joining up with Leicester City and Celtic legend, Steve Guppy.

Also my heart skipped a beat when I saw the name Ze Roberto, but unfortunately it's not that one.

Their next match is against Pittsburgh Riverhounds, a team that some of you may recognise as one supported by a particularly "spetial" MyFC member. When looking at US fixtures, for some reason, the home team is always on the right.

You can listen live to their matches here. Saturday morning, 12 midnight, that's where I'll be.

I think we should all email in...

Expect to see Rob Quinn and possibly Mark De Bolla to follow him out there.
