Guest
Any truth in the rumour that Canvey are playing Southend Manor in the thameside trophy on Tuesday evening - and are playing a first eleven team? Have looked on the Canvey website, but can find no mention of it. Marcus
Matt H
It's Wednesday at Southend Manor and a First XI team is highly probable - If we win, it's Grays in the Final so I'm sure the Management would like to win it. ***** For the Yellow Army don't forget the Reserves are already in one Final, which takes place on Tuesday evening at Park Lane ko. 7:30pm. Some First XI players are expected to play so go and cheer them on too. ***** Matt CIFC
Guest
Hello Matt. Grays are playing Maldon Town in their next round - and I am certain it is tuesday. What I am puzzled about is if it is the first eleven playing why is there no mention of it by the club, the website or anyone else. if the reserves are playing in one game, they will not play in both games. So if the first eleven are playing, they will not have many support if all the fans are watching the reserves at home. Does anyone know where southend manor play. If i get a train to southend, can i walk to their ground?
Matt H
The Thameside Trophy was assigned to the Reserves at the beginning so it's a bit of a "Well we've got no midweek game for the First XI so as to keep them fit and ready for Saturday we'll play a few of them" type of situations. I was told it was Wednesday as the Reserves are playing in the Fred Budden Final and the Reserves can't have two games in one night. It's not on the website, cause we haven't heard anything official from the Club. The only midweek game we've been let on to is the Fred Budden Trophy Final on Tuesday. When we're asked to put something up on the main site we will. Matt CIFC

YELLOW
Southchurch Park is where they are based, Lifstan Way. I'm not sure about directions though.
Matt H
I'll get Merv to do it Marcus, I'm back at College tomorrow so I won't be able to access the 'Net too much. Merv can email the Club from work and put any info on the site when he has a minute or two. Ian_W
Marcus, Southend Manor play at... The Arena Southchurch Park Southend-on-Sea Essex SS1 2TH I think you might be correct about the game being on Tuesday - if we get anything concrete with regards to the fixture, we will let you know However I am sure they reserves could do with the support at home as well
Matt H
Now this is just off the top of my head, but isn't Southchurch Park just off the Sea Front? I think if you go along the Sea Front and follow it all the way around past the arcades and Kursal and past some weird building that looks like a prison it's a turning on the left (obviously) and there's a bit of off-street parking. I took a walk there when one of my College lessons was cancelled a few weeks ago. I didn't know it was Manor's ground!!! That's the way I got there, (by accident) but I'm sure there's an easier route through the town. Ian_W
That is the address from http://www.southendmanor.co.uk - which is a year out of date, but I can't see them having moved in that time.

Matt H
THAT'S THE PLACE!!!!! I was going to do a streak on the pitch but some old boy was walking his dog. I don't have the courage Ian does to do it in front of a crowd The Cricket pitch is just around the corner, but the Pavillion was locked when I had a look. The Great Eckscape
Directions: By car: Use the A127 to Southend. At the Cuckoo Corner roundabout go straight ahead into the A1159 and follow the signs for the sea-front. Once at the sea-front turn left (towards Shoeburyness) and continue until you reach Lifstan Way. Turn into Lifstan Way and the ground will be on your left as you pass Southchurch Park. By rail: C2C services from Fenchurch Street to Southend East. From the station head south (towards the sea-front) across Ambleside Drive and along Kensington Road until you reach Southchurch Park. The ground lies at the far end Phone: 01702 615577 http://www.souof Southchurch Park. Alternatively, use First Great Eastern services from Liverpool Street to Southend Victoria and walk along the sea-front until you reach Bryant Avenue. Walk along Bryant Avenue and Southchurch Park will lie ahead. I'm gonna go to the Southend Manor game instead, as I've heard it is on Tuesday. I hope it is Wednesday so that I'll be able to go to both!
Guest
Guys, I am new here - having selected by division as Essex Senior - I could see Romford & Enfield Town - but then remembered you guys have gone up a division or two since the ESL days. So had to hunt out your forum Yes it is tomorrow (Tuesday). We are going to whip you boys - if you think it will be a walk over think again. Come down to Southend and watch your team go out of the Trophy. If you are intersted - this is how we got to play and beat you tomorrow... Round 1 - bye Round 2 - Southend Manor 2 East Thurrock 2 (8-7 on pens) (that was a close one!) Round 3 -Southend Manor v Canvey Island Then whoever wins - the semi-finals will be Ford United v Southend Manor or Canvey Island Hornchurch v Maldon or Grays Athletic Hope that clears up any confusion. Hope to see you all at Southend tomorrow... SMF
Matt H
Well, well, well, there is more than just the old man that walks his dog over there then!? If the rumours are true SMF and we do put out the first team tomorrow, we will probably double our score on Saturday. With the prospect of playing Grays in the Final I think we might just well be going for this one...
