I too have a few nagging doubts, last season we had an experienced team - with Robin, Macca, Skins, Jay, Pinns, Big Rob and Jacko all with 100's of games under their belt. Now we've tipped the balance the other way mzking Louis, Scotty and (if he signs) Morris the 'seasoned pro's' alongside Paul Smith. Can't help but think we need a couple of experienced men to guide the youngsters.

We've heard of the whereabouts of most of last season's squad, one name seems to have 'slipped under the radar'(unless I missed it whilst on holiday)and that's winger Ryan Martin .. anyone heard what's happened to him?

Its pretty obvious what will hapen if we do not get some real quality in-just look at Leyton last year and what happened there once they played all youth.

However, i remain confident that BA will get some quality in and whilst i do believe we will seriously struggle until Christmas,in the second half of the season we will recover and pull away from the relegation zone.

I think the thing to remember is that MFC have only spent a couple of seasons building a good under 18s set-up. 3 seasons ago some of the now reserve/newly signed first team players were in a MFC u18 side that finished bottom of their league. 2 seasons ago (06-07) the 2nd year player with some new young signings rose under Tom/Phils guidance and a football side was bourn. Remembering that these lads can often only play together one season as second year u18 have to leave, this was a very good side, at their best were beating the top teams around. It was only when the reserves called leaving gaps that they suffered. As said, a handful of u18s moved to reserves fulltime and several more got regular call ups. Last season, 07-08, saw a much younger u18s who were not really used in the reserves but again had some very promising players and after a shaky mid season finished 5th. Meanwhile those ex u18s who moved up were turned into far better players with great promise. Without the luxury of teams like Maidstone who can enter youth teams in 3 leagues, south/central and north and have triple the amount to cherry pick from, I think MFC have made the most of the 3 seasons they have entered u18 teams into the MUSH. As far as, are they better than those 10 or twenty ago the answer has to be yes, but of course so is every other clubs. Having watch several of MFCs youth sides over the last few seasons I think Margate are in a good position and if we are not in the same state again we should have a good sprinkling of local players in the first team in a few years. This season we must treat the first team youth with patience, giving them time to grow. The futures bright and new and very blue.

Ryan, who was one of my favourite players, is having trials with Charlton. He felt let down by what happened to him

Another nice lad, I hope that he will go far

He is probably right about being let down-surely his demise could have waited 2 more weeks ?

Ironically,he may have flourished under the guidance/coaching of our new management set-up.

Biggest problem was of course not getting BA in about 3 weeks before end of season,by which time we knew that promotion was very very unlikely.

That way, he could have had a proper look at the existing players and built a bit of rapport with them-maybe one or two would have stayed and BA could have persuaded the board to fund one or two of the more seasoned players.

still -if Martin has not got a club-why not still welcome him back-he can't be the most expensive of players

My own view is that a few of these 7 (just signed) will probably be loaned out to Kent Premier teams, for the 1st half of the season. Then if needs dictate they'll be brought back to cover where needed.

The most likely 1st team set-up will be:

------------------SCS----------------

- Corbishley--Smith--Young---Robinson

- McAree----Morris---P.Smith----Quain

-----------Coleman---Peters----------

Subs: Bowles, Moir, Hickman, Harker, Axon, Vanhinsberg, Harker, Lewis

Time will tell but that's how I see it.

Looks quite a strong 1st XI, enough to take on the Ryman Premier. Then they should all be stronger, to gain us promotion, the following season.

HAPPY DAYS. Just guess the club are discussing how much they can offer the other lads to play i.e. Bowles, Corbishley, Hickman, McAree, Morris, Moir, Young.

Thanet Eye, can't see Coleman as a main striker, that's one area we need to address (ironically Rob Haworth would have been the ideal man to fill that missing gap - he's big, strong, very experienced, has a great playing attitude and is a role model for the youngsters to look up to <attributes the team is shouting out for> guess he was too expensive though ... shame).

So to recap. We have got rid of the whole first team outfield players and signed the majority of the reserves who played Div 1 Kent league football last season, bar a few who played for first team when we were short. And people are confident that they are good enough to hold their own in the Ryman Premier league this season which is renound for being the hardest league to get out of. Come on, where's the experience? As stated earlier, Leyton tried this last season and where are they now?

Dover attempted the going with local youngsters under Richard Langley a few seasons ago,it was a disaster. As much as the fans wanted the youngsters to do well it did not work and I doubt very much if any group of playes from Kent league division 1 can realistically compete at Ryman Premier standard, for your sake I hope I am wrong.

Thanet eye you will have no chance of loaning out players to Kent prem clubs as they don't want loan players. Ramsgate tried last season around November. The players ended up leaving and joining the clubs fulltime so as if they are any good they did'nt get called back and then leave the club in the lurch.

You may get away with a couple but not many. Kent league teams don't want to be used by more senior clubs as a training camp to bring on players. They want to bring through players for their own clubs to keep.

The other factor is when Margate players are put on
