For what it is worth my take on the signings so far is that BA has concentrated on getting his fringe players tied up first before they disappear elsewhere.

 

I imagine the next sigings BA will make will be the squad players from last season who have probally be on holiday and impressed him at Harrow eg RC, KM, DY etc.

I'm quite happy with that list but i am also surprised not to see either Lamprell, Taylor or Pratt in that side. Maybe there is future trials or Ashby may have thought that they don't fit his plans.

Of course-what we do not know here are the personal commitments of these young guys.

 

A first team contract is serious stuff-and no doubt BA has said it involves mandatory training twice a week-probably if we read correctly nsomewhere between canterbury and faversham.

It may be that these younger guys have personal/work/study /financial commitments which preclude them from getting to training away from Margate twice a week;and thus for that simple reason,cannot accept/be offered a first team contract.

It's not so much the players that they've signed but the players that are missing. Mainly no news about Corbishley, McAree, Morris and Smith. Have they all gone elsewhere or what? Can anyone enlighten us?

The club will probably release the list of players we have when all the other players have made up their minds about what they want to do. This list only states that those players are the ones that have been promoted to the first team.

My view on this is that these lads have been signed to Margate 1st team as cover for the 1st XI. I believe that the likes of Bowles, Corbishley, McAree, Moir, Morris and Young will all get actual 1st team contracts, once we're into pre-season games.

Plus that way they can also be intergrated slowly over the course of the season.

I hate to be pessemistic and I agree that a youth policy is vital for the future of a club like ours. We have what appears to be a good management structure in place now, possibly to the detrement of the 1st team squad. Perhaps someone can tell me if the current youth of Thanet are any better than the youth of 20 years or even 10 years ago?

 

I want our club to succeed desperately but we are playing in the Ryman Premier League not the Kent League and I just doubt that these very young playrs will be able to cope with the demands at this level, I will quite happily eat these words if I am wrong.

Rumours are both Morris's and James Gregory are signing for the Mighty Ramsgate.....not sure how many players we can keep happy though?

I'm with steve and Tom, I hope our 'young guns' will do well, and I am sure they will do us proud but I fear for them in this league without some proven experience at this level to assist them.

Well, there is a first time for everything. I try to keep an open mind.

 

I cannot disagree with him just because he has been such a merchant banker in the past if he says something reasonable for a change.
