Hertford Town

Recommended Posts

Septimus - That's interesting, I was wondering who was doing the Hertford Town programme these days, you must really miss HTFCew's involvement with the programme, photography and everything else she did but hopefully she and Horace will swallow their pride and come back soon particularly now the Club have seemingly turned the corner and it's a new dawn.

Tell you what, you swallow your pride and go back to Kentish Town, and I'll think about doing the same at Hertford!

Horace - I thought you were above all that, after everything you have done for Hertford Town in the past over many years you can surely walk through the gate with your head held high and I'm sure would be welcomed back with open arms.

Just making a point Rhodes! You mind your business and I'll mind mine.

I thought Jeremy Beadle had died but actually you're spot on, the difference is that Hertford Town are a far more professional Club than both Haringey Borough and Kentish Town put together and don't harbour silly grudges.

  • 2 weeks later...

Despite a loss to Brimsdown last week, Hertford's run of 5 unbeaten games previous to this must have put Pablo in contention for some kind of Manager of the Month award !

A 2-0 win at home to Colney Heath in the HSC on Tuesday may be just the spur Pablo's team needs to start seriously climbing the table.

Up the Blues !!! duck

Greg Dyke - Yes I go along with that, I make him SSML Manager of the season already as he has already turned thing around dramatically at the Club, even more so than Paul Tompkins did at Welwyn Garden City before he recently departed.

Keeper No.1 - I wasn't at work this afternoon, I had places to go and people to see, I also picked the children up from School which is a rareity. How's Baby Keeps doing by the way, are you still giving him

ChristianTroy - You've probably noticed that I rate Paul Tompkins very highly whereas you appear not to for some reason. He assembled a very good squad in just a few weeks at Herns Lane following his arrival from Harpenden Town and in his first game against league leaders Langford, Welwyn went 1-0 down and then equalised until 80 minutes or so when Langford finally ran out narrow winners. Two (yes two) wins followed against Brimsdown and Berkhamsted plus a 3-3 draw at Cockfosters and a superb 2-2 draw at home to Harefield before the Welwyn Chairman started to play silly games and refused to up the budget in order for further progress to be made. Del and Steve are going to have problems with him in the future as he doesn't have very deep pockets and his backside squeaks when he walks.

Yes i have noticed you rate him highly, and as i stated my memory always lets me down. And yes that is a decent record. However i imagine an agreement was made about a budget when he first took the welwyn job so why should it be upped and also ( if memory serves me right ) is this the same Paul Tomkins that left Harpenden this year , the same Harpenden that are now much improved and the same manager that started last season at London Colney - the same season they were relegated ?

ChristianTroy - It would appear that you are hell bent on pouring cold water on Paul Tompkins achievements as a Manager however to my knowledge he has never been at Cotlandswick. I think it was only politely suggested that the budget at Herns Lane might be increased slightly following Tompkins amazing start at Herns Lane in order to keep the momentum going and to keep the players that he had brought to the Club sweet, unfortunately the request fell on deaf ears and the rest is history. Which SSML Club do you follow out of interest as you appear to be reasonably knowledgable and know your onions albeit not where Paul Tompkins is concerned.

Greg Dyke - How long have you got, also I don't want to crash the site with all Paul's achievements in the game so I'll just give you a brief taster. As I think you know Paul is currently taking a well earned break from the game following a highly successful return spell at Welwyn Garden City, when he was at Herns Lane previously as Reserve Team Coach he won the SSML Reserve Challenge Cup and finished runners up in the Reserve Division 1. Paul has also had successful spells at Harpenden Town as Youth and First Team Coach and at Berkhamsted Town as Reserve Team Coach where he groomed many players for the first team, some of which are playing this season.

Greg Dyke - You asked the question about Paul Tompkins and I answered it, what more do you want me to do, he's a very talented and unassuming Coach who doesn't get the credit he deserves.
