Guildford City

Recommended Posts

Guildford City chairman Shahid Azeem has announced a major new project to upgrade facilities at Spectrum Stadium to allow the club to host step 4 football should the club finish in a promotion spot next season. Agreement has been reached with Guildford Borough Council that a "six-figure" timetable of improvements will be put in place. Mr Azeem also plans to apply for a Football Foundation grant to help with the work.

The plan of action is expected to include new turnstiles, clubhouse, dressing rooms, toilets, dugouts and an improved seating capacity. Work will also be undertaken to improve the condition of the Spectrum pitch.

At the club AGM, held on 11th June, a unanimous decision was made to disband the reserve side for season 2008/09.

The Guildford City youth (under-18) side will compete in the Surrey Youth League.

I would have thought the amount of work needed to bring the ground up to Step 4 standard, almost prohibitive, and thats even IF Guildford Borough Council approved all the neccessary planning permission, which would probably receive a lot of objections locally.

I suppose GBC could always hire the same barristers that MVDC hired for their case against DFC Ltd.

Oh - Hang on a minute ! I think they lost the ca....
