Stadium - an update on progress to date

Recommended Posts

Sorry if I sounded a bit confrontational there. It was not my intention to be that way. Anyway not like they can do much to us over here if we say anything out of line anyway. What are they going to do break our thumbs^^

Anyway better stay on topic. Still got to tell my friend about the design anyway as that very day we where talking about the stadium and what it would possibly look like. I think it is safe to say that it would of exceeded his expectations aswell.

Thanks Rob. It worries me somewhat, that the cost(and how the money will be raised)hasn't been mentioned, seeing all the talk about a playing budget being fixed. Will the budget have to be cut later to find the money, or is there a benefactor standing in the wings waiting to provide the necessary funds? Somebody on the other forum might want to ask this!

"There is as yet no firm timeframe as to when EUFC could realistically be in a new home because of funding issues and land purchase, but FGD has drawn up a five-phase plan that could see Fleet playing football in a new stadium within four years of design finalisation and funding assurances".

Nice to see a design, but surely in every other way, we're no further forward than we were two or three years back when we first talked of a new stadium? Still at least 4 years away. I'll only get excited when theres something concrete (in all senses of the word)on the table.

Les, it's been my impression reading the scant details we've seen that it won't be the club/MyFC footing the bill for the stadium. I imagine that means the development company or a third party would own the ground. I worry about the rent.

This is all my speculation, though. I haven't heard anything with official details either.

I agree Rob, if the ground is owned by a third party, who will charge rent, it obviously isn't going to be a Peppercorn Rent!
All the people who are crying for the new Stadium...........Have they taken into account the big chunk it will take out of the Clubs Budget?
As I posted earlier.......I pray we have Realists somewhere in charge, instead of(pie-in-the-sky)Optimists!
