Margate Football Club is proud to host the Margate Learning Zone, an exciting and innovative education centre for the children of Thanet. The Department of Children, Schools and Families have joined forces with Kent County Councils to allow the Playing for Success scheme to benefit children in the region, boosting their key skills in Numeracy, Literacy and ICT. The first thing I thought was this must bring some useful revenue in for the club.

Anyone got any timescales for when it starts? Presumably the 'state of the art' education centre would be part of the new development so hopefully this will get things moving.

I'm sure this was announceed several months ago and that it will currently be held in the Hartsdown, It was then going to be situated in a purpose built suite in the new Coffin End Stand. Does anybody else recall the announcement, i think it was mentioned in IOT Gazette. I'm also sure that the computers would be made available to Margate FC for the use of an internet cafe or similar when niot being used by the kids.

I did not read or here that-but i believe you will be correct.

Reading the press release, although no mention is made either way;i got the impression that this faciulity will be in the Hartsdown of the current offices at hartsdown road end.

Lets face it, even if we have an announcement in next month about coffin end being built, and it was started pretty quick thereafter; it would be Feb/March absolute earliet before completed.

My money is on the coffin end going ahead as a simple terrace, starting October and finishing march 2009.

we'll see

You are correct Steve. I believe, eventually it will form part of the new development. This was covered Tuesday night at the meeting. I think Keith said that though this is the 3rd time we have been in this position, he believes he will be in a position to announce the go ahead for the new development in the next 3 weeks when the main organisation coming onto the site signs on the dotted line.
