regarding PTT....

now of course the initial subscriptions taken from members related to own the club pick the team the first a matter of conjecture and the second a matter of much humming and harring....

renewals come up in february I understand and that would be the time to remove PTT without any legal threat....apart from 2000 hardy and worthy souls who have subscribed for another two years but we could have them santioned (or sectioned) grin and in all honesty and much credit to them they have made that commitment whilst still unsure about PTT and if it will ever be put to the test...

so the renewal terms are....

be involved in the ownership of a club and have an input into picking the team but the manager has the last word..

now I have several memberships and will renew them all (just so I can wind harry up in several different guises grin) and those terms would be quite acceptable to me....risky but a way forward with a more honest and transparent approach to the whole fandango....yeah... a few will spit their dummies out but I doubt membership will fall to any level that could effect the sustainability of conference football so long as expectation wasn't promotion...sooner or later this has to be dealt with and heads in shifting sands will not suffice I am afraid to say...

big balls are required here IMO...

UU I agree. As controversial and unfair as it may be, for the long-term interests of this club I feel we would do much better if only those who didn't want PTT/were content to see it axed and off-the-pitch policies pursued, resigned.

This may see membership dwindle to 5,000, but at least it will be 5,000 with a much more similar vision to each other, and a membership who are happy to see the real boss, with the real expertise, pick the team, whilst they work on off-the-pitch welfare and projects. As GLA's article said, this is where members can really make a difference.

And as far as finances go, 5,000 x

I think, owing to the first season success that MYFC has apparently brought to the club, the 2nd year take up, even without PTT, colud be as high as 10-15,000.

It really does depend on our league position by the new year - together with a good FA Cup run with a big publicity 3rd round tie sometime in early January.

That would get home gates up, and keep interest in the club.

A poor first half season, plus an early FA Cup and Trophy exit could mean a big MYFC exodus.

it won't drop anything like that KS....maybe 10k will go at most and thats being pessimistic...decent well meaners know it aint gonna work and the lack of action on this (and other issues) is pi55ing them off (there is a new thread on the cesspit today and it does not make good reading) I was tempted to cut and paste it for you all but ultimately felt that it was best left but believe you me...there is a groundswell of opinion against brooks and his cohorts vis the initial mandate sold...

the concept of a few thousand footie fans being involved in the ownership and running of a club is a good one as long as its not ego driven by one or more people and so long as there are elected ringmasters in charge of the circus (where the fck is clowntown when you need him grin)...the current mandate just will not work so why compound it....brooks needs to have big balls...stop fckn around at the ground playing abramovich and deal with the mandate for renewal time...if not before....the numpties will go and the true believers in the concept will accept the changes and renew..

having analysed the numbers now I am more convinced than ever that it is so critical that this works...

Hi all, I think this is going to be a difficult one. Many MyFCers (like me) joined up last year because the blurb said "own the club, pick the team". It was something new, a chance to do things differently.

Earlier this year, members were subjected to a sort of poll/vote which was very badly designed and caused more harm than good, unfortunately. The "results" were meaningless because of the design. Then there was a debate about why we needed a poll anyway, as people had paid up to PTT - why ask them again?

Now there are a lot of weasel words being said, as you know Uncs - but the Operator needs to be open about any change of philosophy. Members are getting restless, as you have rightly noticed.

I think if there has been a move away in the Operator's mind from PTT, he should come right out and say it. I know why he might not want to do that, but it's better to sort it out at this point in the year.

hi sal...I understand the problem from a members perspective but in truth anyone with half an idea about football would have known full well that it (PTT) was never going to work...and we are talking about an old and established football club here not an internet chat show...

there are times in the life of all men when taken at the flood.... (sic) plagarised from agatha christie...

brooks needs to deal with this now IMO...never a better time than close season to effect changes at football clubs with the minimum amount of fall out...

would you renew sal if you couldn't pick the team...?

Can't speak for Sal, but I know I would, and believe most members who have actually been to Fleet games would as well.

I have to drink less, I think. I've been nodding yes while reading several UU posts tonight. doah

How I see PTT. Liam will pick his team, he will put 18 players up for MYFC to choose from. the option he gives will give them very little option, other than for the punters to choose the team he wants, if there not exactly how he wants, It will be oh he has a slight strain blah blah blah. so as much as I dislike the option of PTT. I believe it is not surmountable. In effect MYFC will be picking nothing, other than the odd sub

I hear what you are saying AFF, but seeing it is one thing, but proving it, maybe a different matter.

Uncs, I would renew because I feel a real affinity for the club now and am very involved on the forum, but I would consider that myself and many members had been sold a pup. It is the one thing that was advertised! I changed my mind about PTT - at first I wasn't keen to do it and then I thought "this could work". Precisely for the reasons given - it's not like there is a huge squad to pick from, most of the positions are self-selecting and with injuries and indisposition on the day, I bet the members would pick almost the same as Liam. It would be good to test that out, anyway.

And thinking some more about it - if the Operator wants to ditch that part of the manifesto, he should be up-front about it NOW. As other have said, the uncertainty is worse. Actually, most MyFCers complain about poor communication rather than bad news. Let's have the row if there is to be one.

I know where you are coming from sal but it is not as simple as that....the changing rooms are a world removed from the internet and it will and can not ever work....much respect for the dream paid for but it has to be dumped to move forward...

having said that...what about a members weekly lottery...say two quid and the person that picks the team that starts (picked exclusively by liam) gets the dosh.....

now that would work and be much more fun than all the bickering...smile
