A Practical attempt to boost Liams playing budget

Recommended Posts

I'm likely to get slaughtered for this but if MYFC can't have "Own The Club - Pick The Team", why not ask Liam to publicly identify 4/5 players that are not on his "original target list" that he would like to see at the Club.

MYFC members could then vote on who to open negotiations with based on Liam's recommendations. Members would be asked to pledge towards this fund.

This may sound a crazy idea, naming transfer targets publicly BUT MYFC members clearly want greater input into the Club and this is 1 way to do it. In the process, more MYFC members, in fact probably thousands more would give to this brilliant idea.

You could end up raising 50K+. So far MYFC members have had a rough ride as far as the slogan goes and it would be there way of getting involved that bit more.

Liam gets 1/2 extra players and MYFC members get more input. Will Brooks also benefits as he is seen allowing members to have greater involvement in the Club. Everyone is a winner!

Hi YF, apologies if this has already been explained but why was the '1000' figure set.Surely any amount would help the coffers and aide L.D. going forward? I for one would be happy for my pledge to be forwarded regardless of the amount raised.

At the moment, 459 have agreed to it.

Does Cambridge need the extra money then?

I applaud the people who are trying to raise extra revenue for the Club!............BUT........wasn't the whole promise of MyFC, that they were going to run the Club, in such a profitable way, that it was capable of becoming a Premiership Club?
Is there a flaw in their financial projections, that now people who have already spent their cash, to become members, some who have travelled halfway round the world to watch the Fleet at Stonebridge Road(forget the Wembley hangers-on!) are now trying to raise more money to make this adventure feasible?
The well can only provide so much water!

Good point FLEETFAN, I think that after 'the bean-counters' had completed their due-diligence some alarm bells started ringing and anticipated projections based on a lack of either undestanding, or naivity, has caused the proverbial bike to start going backwards. My main concern on this point remains the same I'm afraid. How the hell is Liam going to compete with the current top 4/5 spenders in this league and still obtain, and retain, the use of good quality players that can start the season with an impactive result or two and carry through the same to the end of the season. Also I still have had no answer to a previous question re the retention of any up and coming Youth players currently in the PASE.Surely after all the investment of time, experience and development afforded them by the likes of Ian Docker and his team we should looking to keep, pay and play the better ones and bring them through the ranks of EUFC. This cannot be the case base on the Head Coaches current budget. Its too prohibitive and the figures just do'nt add up.If anyone can enlighten me on this point I would be most grateful.
