A Practical attempt to boost Liams playing budget

Recommended Posts

Great idea Yorkfox - have just added my name to the list. Lets hope everyone on this forum puts their money where there mouth is. No excuses chaps.

A few years back money was raised by the Fleet Trust to help pay for the wages of ex-gills player Adrian Pennock.

I may be missing the point but why is pledgebank being used when the MYFC site could do a similar thing? Or is pledgebank being used so non-myfc members can pledge?

I will probably pledge to this as well, but it bothers me somewhat that we're having to do this in the dark. The numbers released last week still tell us nothing about the finances of MyFC. The original conception of MyFC was that our annual subscriptions should be sufficient to cover these things.

I realize it will be lean in the first two years because the bulk of our money is paying off the debt/purchase, but I'd like to know the details before being asked to pledge again.

There are 2 answers...

The 'good' me says that its so it can be inclusive, and that non-MyFC Fleet fans can do their bit...

HOWEVER

The 'bad' me who likes to stir it up, would suggest that MyFC don't have 1,000 members willing to shell out yet more money!

This was kicked off individually by one of the members (bakert/Tom Baker).

It's just one of those spontaneous ideas that we hope will gain some momentum and do something for the club over and above whatever the MyFC Society does through the "normal" channels of voting, Board recommendation etc.

I'm more than happy to forego a meal out and/or some sherberts to give a bit extra.

Can understand people's misgivings about handing over more money but putting the issues aside for one moment, this is about making some more money available, which could make the difference between a promotion push or not.

As we all know, the team on the field is not far short of being promotion contenders so why not give if you can afford to do so?

I don't see this as a MyFC thing at all, it is an attempt to raise some money to improve the team. It just happens that it was a MyFC member who instigated it.
When the Fleet Trust tried to raise money for a player in the past we either contributed or didn't as we saw fit, or as finances allowed, but without the soulsearching or looking for reasons.

If enough people are interested this idea will probably lead to us having one more, good quality player, if you can afford it and you want to help then pledge. if you can't afford it or don't wish to be a part of it then don't pledge.
Don't look to have a go at MyFC for every idea that comes up though, this isn't anything we haven't tried before....and if we fall short of the 1,000 pledge target that bakert has set then that shouldn't be used as a stick to beat MyFC with either. We never managed to raise very much before and at least somebody is trying to d something that just might make a difference.

I agree with people donating if they cant get to many games, but regular supporters already put plenty of money into the club, following a team in any league nowadays isnt cheap, if people want to donate then great, but the club aren't exactly hard up at the moment, with the myfc windfall and the FA Trophy winnings The Fleet are in pretty good shape. I'm not trying to talk people out of giving money to the club of course, but don't feel obliged to do so just because you are a supporter, we already donate plenty.
