New items in the official shop

The Fleet trust, who run the Trust, are completely different to the club, I believe. In effect they just make donations to the club. This is not compulsory so if the Trust make a profit (they are a charity, after all) they can keep it for however long they want, even if/when MyFC goes.

True, but I'm now confused as to what the "official club shop" is. The website (Pro Club) afaik has no affiliation with the Trust, and are branding themselves as the official shop. I am thinking it may be the case the club's never had an official shop until now - the Fleet Trust just ordering in items with the clubs logo on with the clubs permission to use their logo!

I also think that what's going on is MyFC (seperate company - or whatever) has also got the clubs permission (which they own - not hard) to use their name and logo etc to produce a couple of seperate products only available initially to members.

I assume the left over copies they will then sell to the Trust (just the The Cameraman does with his copies when there is demand.)

So your best bet is (in order to give no money (indirectly) to MyFC, and some profit to the Trust - I presume) is to wait until the trust have copies, and order it off their site (if they put it up) or ask someone to post it for you! smile

EDIT: On Pro Club's site it says "Our Stonebridge Road store" - so perhaps there is an affiliation between The Trust and Pro Club? It's anyones guess!

Anyone know where we stand on the Logo though? Do the club own the copyright?

When Bates bought Chelsea the first thing he did is change the badge so that all the stalls outsde the ground would have the unofficial badge on them, if they wanted the official badge on them then they had to pay the club which then made Bates money so he changed it, no-one would bye stuff that didn't have the official badge on it. Arsenal did a similar thing about ten years ago.

So do the club own the badge?

except that MyFc own the club and therefore everything to do with it...the club cannot have absolute control over or protected ownership of anything now including the badge...ultimately you cannot do anything or make any decisions without majority shareholder approval...same for all organisations...

there are no copyright laws in england except for pulications but even if the logo/badge was trade mark protected its the shareholders (the provident society) who now own that TM along with every other asset (and liability) within EUFC...

in short MyFc can do what they like...frown

not so sure that can be correct Ian...all charities have to have a reason for being and a charter for the disposal of funds raised along with pretty strict rules about admin charges etc....I cannot see for example that the fleet trust (the charity) would be able to dispose of the funds that they raise to have a bet on the 3.30 at lingfield or make a donation to Hx grin

The Fleet Trust aren't a charity they are a Supporter's Trust -nothing more and nothing less.

They also have no connection with the "official club store" - this makes me think that the Trust won't be involved in the shop next year and it will be run by myfc.

To suggest you have to pay

good post jimmy and I agree with your sentiments entirely....

so no charity but presumably a correctly constituted supporters trust...totally arms length from the new shareholders by way of being independent from EUFC and therefore solely at the mercy of the shareholders should they wish to rescind current merchandising arrangements when they expire...

whichever way you look at this MyFc society can do as they like...!!

The Wembley merchandise was widely available except for the ties and cufflinks as I think the were/are only available from the other site. The book and DVD should be available to pre order by everyone. I agree with you that we need to offer all merchandise to everyone. The MyFc shop should be accessed via the official EUFC site.

Although the Trust will no longer be in control of the club shop, they can, and I'm sure will, still organise away travel and sell official Trust merchandise. The crucial thing is that there continues to be incentives to join the Trust. So long as people realise that, while MyFC is somewhat ephemeral, the Trust is permanant, investment should continue. I for one will definitely be renewing my membership.

So - this 'book' that only MyFC fans can pre-order... I am guessing its a Wembley book? Therefore, its initial print run with names can only be limited to maybe 6,000. After all, thats more than the amount of tickets that MyFC sold via their website. I bumped it up a bit to include those members who bought them at the ground.

Therefore, there are 19,000 potential souvenir buyers who would quite happily shell out a few quid to have their name included as a record of "The Big Game"...

Someone explain the sense in that?

This is the relevant section from the article on the MyFC site:

The Wembley book - proposed, planned and being compiled by members - is now available for pre-order. The 160-page hardback will contain thousands of words and hundreds of pictures from MyFC members. Those who order before Friday 20 June will have their names printed in the book as a 'thank you'

I know people were asked before if they would like to do an article for the book and then a number were chosen to write the articles. For instance, my friend in Oregon is writing about how it felt for him, as someone who couldn't be there on the day.

Me too.

But just in case MyFC is a little less transitory I will be renewing there too.

what a suprise about the book and it only being available to My FC members. Well let me sat this. I dont need my name in the back of a book - I was a EUFC regular before myfc, I was at Wembley screaming and shouting and i will be a EUFC fan long after the myfc experiment has bitten the dust.
