Lots of clubs charge a signing-on fee.

Asking the visiting team to pay the officials would probably breach league rules !

The money to run teams has to come from some where Mick, ok we've only been a senior team for a couple of years and continued what we previously did.

Most officials at pre-season friendlies do it for the love, or a couple of drinks and a burger afterwards.

Yes match fees are covered by seperate sponsorship, I agree its difficult to get money out of the players which is a big problem, most of our players have been at the club many years so they know the score, the newer players is an issue and we are looking at alternative ways so it may change.

Players got a win bonus this year no expenses to any players.

We as a club cannot afford it, also how can we charge the Saturday 3rd team and the Sunday teams without charging the senior teams. Hence we try and give them something back from the club.

Its not easy Mick and good luck.

We charge our players a membership fee, we have to according to our rules, if you are a members club so should you, otherwise you would be discriminating against the other members, we can not charge the juniors and youth teams and then let the seniors off without paying anything, as they are all playing full members of the club. We quite often split the cost of refs for friendly matches.

think you might find that under your licensing rules to sell alcohol everyone using the premises has to be a member,

we charge all our players to sign on , we run four adult sides on a saturday one sunday and cricket in the summer so to make some pay and others not would not be fair , although the first team normally get sponsored for there fee .

very difficult issue which we have had meeting upon meeting about , but something that has to be done to make ends meet , and the bar is subsidised as well

Most sports clubs are covered on their licence to serve alcohol to bona fide visiting teams and officials without them having to join the club/association or sign in.

Your local friendly licensing officer will be pleased to help !
