Rams Friendlies

I see on the Ramsgate web site the friendlies pre season have been cancelled by us in case of injuries, bookings etc. Seems sensible idea to me.

These were never a good idea for PSF's for 2 reasons.

1) PSF should never be with teams in the same league as you.

2) They would have dented the confidence of the poor rams players after being thrased by THE MIGHTY MARGATE. It would only have hastened the rams certain relegation back to Ryman 1 next season.

A shame that the game wont take place, but as Ramsgate 60 has stated theres still the League Games to look forward too.I`m sure Joseba that Margate will be the first result you listen out for, as you`ve stated that you wont be watching Margate, choosing Canterbury City FC instead.

Because you'll be playing them twice in the season so by playing them in pre-season you are just showing them how you play and that.

Still don't get it.

Pre-season games are mainly about fitness, trialists, patterns and settling into a system, and bear minimal relation to a competitive league game.

All an opposition manager needs to do is come and watch a team in a competitive game to see how they play .

With trialists ,even the players are different.

Its obviously me, but i just cannot see the rational thinking in this one,but it seems that most clubs think the same way.

T'other thing with the Rams friendlies in particular were that you know its going to be a reasonably competitive game and thus a 'proper test',and you would get a half sensible crowd to provide some income.

Otherwise, at the sort of crowds you get at friendlies, they must cost more to stage than the income you get.

Thus remain a bit disappointed-and yes-for selfish reasons it probably is the omne friendly i would bother travelling 450 miles for.

Never mind

As we were at home for first game of season last year, i assume we are away for first game this year on Aug 18th.- freakin Essex somewhere no doubt

We'd have beaten you home and away tbh.

A pity Ramsgate reserves were relegated-as chances are now ,the reserves will only have 2 games/local derbies against them in the floodlit games as opposed to 4 games incl. the league.

makes it harder to get that 100 attendance at a reserve game
