Was nice to see Alan Curbishly (ACDC) last night. Hopefully the club can get something sorted out concerning "Roberto", who is in America, touring around as students do, until July.

Did anyone ask or was there word of where the first team will be training next season. Along with this MFC need to provide a clear training programme for the reserve/u18 etc. It`s no good saying that youngsters will be given a change but, are under the cloud of being taken off if they do not perform,(hence where will the first team train). Ramsgate did not do this last season, they gave their youngsters a chance without the preasure of perform or else.MFC have to take the lead here.

We were told that the first team will be training between here, Faversham and Canterbury facility permitting.

I'd like to say how impressed I was by the way Ashby, Smith, Big Nev and Wevs presented themselves. When I asked about local players getting a chance I got the answer I was looking for. 3 ex Gillingham players an ex premiership and international footballer. There is alot of knowledge there and i am really excited about it. Finally young good footballers will get a chance.

As you can guess I am really passionate about local Sunday league football. Finally we can prove what we're worth and get a chance. Of course I'll admit that at 28 i'm not gonna be training with the reserves but I know a few that will be. If I was good enough I know that i'd be wearing that Margate shirt with pride and would give everything that i'd got and I know that local players will feel the same.

My mood and opinion of MFC has now dramatically changed.

Eyeball has let you know with regard to venue of training. Plus it was said that so long as a margate lad has talent, and is willing to put in the workrate, they will come through the system into the firsts set-up. From what was said, by all, basically Thanet lads have a great oppertunity to shine under their management, because that's what they want too. At last night's meeting they had the Youth league chairman, the Generation Sports Director as well as Mark Weatherly, all represnting the youth side/reserve side of things, alongside Neville Southall, Barry Ashby and Paul Smith.

With regard to a player being taken off if they're under performing this would surely happen to any young or old. At the end of the day Ashby and Smith have to get results as well otherwise they could face the bullet themselves. If a young lad should not be up to it yet but has been tried out, in the firsts. He shouldn't get his head down, just realise with a bit more time and dedication in the reserves he's going to get there.

Notwithstanding the good work that MW and Moore have done-i applaud the clubs decision 2 years ago to resurrect the reserves after so long.

That was the first step-the recent appointments are building on that step of 2 years ago.

We can talk of young local talent going to the first team-only because of that decision 2 years ago.

Imagine the trauma we would be in now,if we had no reserves.

Again-well done the Board of MFC.

Its obviously not cheap to run a reserve side-so sticking with the decision over the last 2 years is as important.

Also credit to the supporters for attending the games-/doing reports (TA)/arranging events (BB) and everyone else.

By the sound of it-the reserves will be even stronger this year.

Could we yet get that crowd of 100 at a reserve game ?

The 'geography'/logistics may not fit;but is there not also a Ryman Youth team cup which we currently do not enter-had it ought to be considered this season ,to give a variety of opposition-maybe stronger opposition

Thanks to all for replies. I asked the question after listening to Ashby`s interview. I would imagine that any youngster good enough for first team consideration would be trained and assessed so when given the nod would be equipped for the roll. Having watch many MFC youngsters given a chance in a higher age league or into reserves do well, something to prove! (reserves v Ramsgate 2nd half). Having watched quite a few of the Mush sides this year and last it does seem that "in time" MFC could field a side containing 5 or 6 MFC grown players.

Good luck Eyeball if you get a trial, I`m aware that you`ve been championing (is that a word) non MFC local players. I think that the right stuff has always been with-in the MFC set-up but taken a time to sort out, and of course events of late have not helped. If we all expect nothing but commitment and are patient there is no reason why MFC will not go forward. But it will take time.

well good luck to him. Not sure what is going on at the moment, I think training starts soon and there might be a few games tho I think that after the recent weather the pitch might be off limits. Personally, the feel good factor that I had at the start of 2006/07 for reserve/u18s and which I lost last year is coming back.
