Thought it was time I weighed in with a view here. For me, the "theme" track should be the same for years otherwise it's just a track from a CD. We are one of the few (only?) clubs at our level to play somethinf bespoke for our team. Yes it is a version of the Birmingham song. It's the association of track to the team that should "get people going" and the rousing build up music happens in the run up to the theme track - which is somting I try to do - as the choir know as they join in with some of them (before abusing me during quiet periods of the game, of course). You wouldn't have thought the Z Cars theme would get people going but if you've ever been to Goodison Park you'll know it does.

 

Personally, I would prefer to stick to it and play the other "rousing" tracks in the run up to kick off. But, there has to be enough people on the terraces to make a difference to the atmosphere - part of which is the music - in any case.
