Good to hear from you Uncs. I'm looking forward to another trip to your place next season already. Perhaps we can even share the air-ways again.

I like this fella already. As I have said many times. There are good local footballers in the sunday leagues that with the right guidance will go places. All Ashby has to do is get up Jackey Bakers, Garlinge and Birchington. We're not all beer drinking fat blokes with big muffin tops that have to have a smoke at half time!

I like his style. Seems to want to strive for success but knows we need to go with youth, mixed in with a few wise heads. Macca and JJ, although they have served us well, I think the right move is to let them move on as it's likely they are high earners, and we could really do with spreading the resources sensibly.

The message is clear to youth in Kent. Come to Margate and you will get your chance in a fantastic set-up with contacts other non-league clubs could only dream of.

Peters is on a contract, so I very much doubt he will go, unless he is to be transfer listed. I think we need to allow Barry some time to speak to the remains of last seasons squad and to bring it players of his own, make judgement after that has happened.

i presume Peters is being shown the door too then...

For a start we have the few contracted players, who presumably are on a fair whack. I imagine that takes up a fair amount of the budget already. It would probably need some of the out of contract players to take a drop in wages to make it a realistic proposition keeping them. I do see it as a step forward to lower the age of the side, as if you had seen some of the reserves games you would know we have some very talented players waiting in the wings. Barry has the task of finding the right mix of youth and experience, as this league is notoriously tough.

I'd love to see Peters get a chance up front, where he played for the second half at Leyton when we were chasing the game. He scored then, and we turned the game around. Quality of the opposition was poor but he could be exciting in the final third. Failing that, Peters would be great on the wing I'm sure.

Should be an interesting season now.

I have always thought the club needed to do more to bring thru young and local players.

But there is quite a big jump from reserve or sunday football to rymans premier.

If the side starts to be based in Thanet it will mean the club will be less inviting for london based players but better for east kent based players.

The thing is that Ramsgate and to some extent Dover are going to have most of the better local players.

I wouldnt be suprised at all to see some former players return from kent or rymans south clubs..

Smissen from Hythe would be a good signing IMO.

Don't know if you are trying to compare this appointment to Trott's appointment, but bear in mind that the club is trying to bring in a Director of Football, who should have a vast amount of experience.
