What needs to be done in the next 3 months ?

Recommended Posts

This thread is started after reading a post by a board member on the other forum.

Basically, after the big things like Players budgets, pick the team, appointing an MYFC CEO, an EUFC Chairman etc, what are the smaller taskes that need to be done at the ground and the club ?

I know we have discussed this a few times, but things are scattered all over.

"the next step should be for the Members to produce a list of priorities they would like to see their Board work on over a pre-determined timescale. If this list of issues was then allocated to specific Board members, then at least the Society Members would know who is dealing with what, allowing them to monitor progress accordingly. Furthermore, where a Board Member is working together with a team of members on a specific project, this should encourage better communication and accountability on the part of the Board Member. So we need a volunteers to draw up a questionnaire to see what issues need to be made a priority over the next three months and then we need members to filter these issues into a list of say of 10. "

Can we give them a list ?

Can't work out why this is being ignored - MyFC are ASKING people who use this site for some input, and there is no response... Does this mean everyone is happy with everything then? We are all quick enough to complain when the club/MyFC DONT ask or give feedback, now is your chance.

I'll start...

The Ground - Something needs to be said about the new ground. If this can't happen for a few years yet, so be it - in that case, sort out the shocking conditions of the toilets, put some decent roofs on, get the bar redecorated, put some decent sized screens in, sort out the catering.

The Club - need to keep themselves in the local news and build on the FA Trophy. Make sure that as many Gravesham people as possible KNOW about the friendlies, and the social weekend. Coax, bully, coerce them into the ground for a home game.

Can we have TV screens in the ground, as I'm old, I struggle seeing the goals scored down the Swancombe end. I am sure the cameraman can get us a large sheet and some long video leads.

On a more serious note, I would rather have the money spent on the squad and back room staff, rather than the ground structure.Especially if we are going to move at sometime. Other than the toilets and catering, that is, as I think they make our ground a embarrassment to attend at times.

The toilets are a necessity to be honest; that one reason has put people from coming to games that I know of.

Stewarding could be improved. Much is made of this, and the steward's overzealousness when it comes to filming the game, yet their total inaction when things get heated in the Plough End.

The ground always seems to need a lick of paint and weeding. Mark Neilsen started a volunteer thread about this not too long ago.

Since the new ground will be few years off, please can we look at funding the painting of the Plough End roof?

The new panels put in a few years back were never painted and consequently if you are looking from the Swanscombe End or the Stonebridge Rd stand it looks awful.

Perhaps create some nostalgia and repaint the faded TRUMAN BEERS Logo and have flat caps and fake side burns in the club shop? Even, dare I say it the MYFC logo or a long term sponsor's logo would be so much better...or just paint the whole thing Red.

Yep..the food is dire and too expensive. Sample the delights of a burger from Daff's cafe in Camer park. She does cheese burgers for just over 2 quid that are to die for (well nearly).... Hmmmmm.

Forever Red and White.

I think all the suggestions on here are the sort of things which would make locals more likely to attend. Personally, I don't think the grub is that bad - it's like you get at many grounds - but we need to be able to quickly get through the queues. People might be more likely to go and buy food if they could get it quickly.

The women's toilets are not too bad IMO.

KShep's idea about pre-match food is a fantastic idea.

I think prematch catering would work well with people like myself who travel quite a distance and then arrive at the ground early for a good natter. The thought of a hot pie waiting in the bar where you could sit down and eat it is appealing.

And peas. Pie and peas ...
Yes it's a great idea. Better than getting it during the game. Hi Keith x

We seem to have this discussion every year with the same idea's being suggested but rarely acted upon. Will it be different this year?

Some of the idea's might not work but that doesn't mean the Club shouldn't try them again. All the points outlined below can be easily organised over the next 3 months so no excuses smile

1) Improve the Toilets. They do nothing to attract familes.

2) Allow all "U16's" in free when accompanied by adults for the first 3/5 games of the season. Advertise this offer in the local papers and build on the momentum gained from Wembley. Gravesend is not a "rich" area and given the current economic conditions many familes might opt to take the Club up on this offer. This has been done in the past and proved popular.

3) Closer relations with the local schools. Free tickets should be given out to 3 schools per game.

4) Matchday posters sent out to the 50 plus pubs in the local area. How many pubs took coaches to Wembley? Lots!

5) Improve the "friendliness" of the Club. This ranges from the guys on the turnstiles, stewards to those selling food. If individuals in these positions can't afford a smile,or basic manners such as thank you when taking money get rid of them as this reflects badly on the Club. This might seem a harsh comment, given that most of the people in these positions do an excellent job but there are a few individuals that are real "miserable buggers".

6) Some decent TV's in the Club bar if still required.

7) A greater presence in Gravesham Town Centre, whether this be posters in shop windows or people handing out leaflets.

8) Advertise any special deals the Fleet offer such as Family Tickets, or junior Fleet Season Tickets. How many families know they can buy a Season ticket for "little Johnny" for
