Following the Directors resignations announced yesterday, the Club has asked Malcolm Rowlett to reconsider his position and withdraw his resignation. Alan Bown has also been invited to remain at the Club in the honorary position of Club President.

The Club has wasted two years spending money it does not have, attempting to return to the Football Conference and must now restructure its foundations. With the delivery of the new stadium close, we must build a team who will remain with us and be good enough to progress through the leagues.

This process will take time and in order to achieve success we must seek to invest in a strong management team who are committed to the long term future of our Club.

As such, Margate Football Club has made the following appointments:

Intrigued about this director of football. What will his exact role be? It does not seem to work at Premiership clubs so I'm not sure it is really necessary at this level. Won't it just be another wage to pay? What advantages will it bring?

Seeing as I can't make the meeting on Tuesday, maybe someone could ask these questions for me!

Is there renewed hope that as an ex defender, that Mr Ashby realises the sheer beauty, value and sexiness of 'not concedeing the nil'.More importantly-that Smith and Ashby between them can actually sign and coach defenders .

I just hope we see the return of a modicum of sensible defending ,and the end of kamikaze defending

I'll raise my glass to lots of boring 1-0 wins to the 'Gate next season

Very happy about the appointment but there seems to be a lot of people running the team. The management are talking about wasted money but we have a manager, an assistant and possibly a director of football. What I would like to see at the club is a full time COMMERCIAL manager. We must start to recoup some of the lost money and get sponsors on board. We have lost the Golden Gate lottery which at its peak was bringing in a lot of money, and over the last two seasons there has been hardly any match, match ball or shirt sponsorships, and nonew pitch surround advertisers. That has been an awful lot of money wasted for virtually no outgoings at all. 5 shirt sponsors at

One can only assume Mr Ashby has 'something special about him',as having clearly stated that the club need someone with management experience-and having had their fingers clearly burnt by Trott's complete lack of management acumen,an appointment is made of someone without direct. management experience.

That is not to say it is wrong-i really wish him well-i am simply curious and excited as to why the 'about turn ' has been made-and can only hope that Ashby really has something special about him;that came out in a very vigorous interview process

One hopes that if this has effectively been an 'appointment in waiting' for almost a month since the Harrow game, that messrs Ashby and Smith have actively been working 'behind the scenes' ready to sign players with a vengeance once their appointments were confirmed .

It could be alot worse-lots of quality younger players almost ready to step up-and remmeber about 5 seasons ago when Chris Kinnear did not start assembling his team until August !!

Very valid point. Trott just didn't command the respect of the players IMO. Didn't have it in him..which was a surprise, as for an experienced player, you would think he would have standards. Water under the bridge now anyway.

Hopefully Ashby can mould a hungry and committed team here at Margate and make a name for himself in management. Let's progress together. Onwards and upwards.
