Personally, I would prefer a fully fit Gary MacDonald, it may be that Ross has come on in the past year, but he did have the tendancy to go into "headless chicken" mode every so often and end up running around out of position.

 

The Gary MacDonald that played in the pre-season friendlies was IMO a better player.

Blocked up the holes in a tiring defence and looked keen and hungry.

In Ross' defence, this mainly seemed to occur in his second season with us when the majority of the time we were playing 3-5-2; he looked more comfortable in the 4-4-2 formation that we have now reverted to.

Personally, I was surprised when Ross went up a division.

 

I thought that he was a good conference player, but that he would struggle at a higher level.

 

The fact that he is being released after 1 year in league 2 give creedence to this.

 

I think that it is a toss up between Gary & Ross and they would both be backup to Smudger and Darius Charles (in the unlikely event that we keep him) and we also have to factor in Macca. We do not need and probably can't afford both of them.
