McCarthy's playing on next season as far as I know, but having him, the two Smiths and Hawkins would be decent cover, with Ricketts and in a dire emergency Sacha able to fill the slot as well.

 

Would depend of course if Liam's retaining MacDonald too.

A fully fit Ross Smith would be a very good addition to the squad, but he plays in a position that we already have ample cover for. Assuming the remaining defence re-sign for next season, some of these players are going to have to be left out of the team on a regular basis. If funds permit and Ross would wish to step down a division and return to Stonebridge Road, then that is fine by me. However, our real need is for another decent striker and to obtain one we may have to muster together funds to entice someone half-decent to play for the Fleet. I am sure that Liam will be keeping tabs on players who may be out of contract at other clubs, but the majority of the best goalscorers will almost certainly already be tied to contracts elsewhere. As ever I expect our playing budget to be fairly modest in comparison to a number of other clubs in the BSP notwithstanding the additional revenue that has been achieved this year.
