Under 18's Cup final Win

The Urchin colts tonight defeated Hullbridge by 2-0 at Brentwood in the final of the Magnus Cup.

On what was a firm but good surface overall our lads superior footballing ability eventually wore a Hullbridge side down but, to be fair, their opponents never stopped trying to play the ball about in a good manner, and full credit to them.

The Urchins had several shots on goal during a first half which produced no goals but some lively play from both teams. The second half was a different story as our lads stepped up their passing game, producing one flowing move in the 50th minute and ending with Joe Staunton rifling the ball home but to be very unjustly given offside.

It was all Urchins from then on, and Captain inspired, Michael Ramkin swivelled his way in from the inside right berth to fire past the Hullbridge keeper on 58 minutes.

The second was due at any time and it arrived in the 75th minute after another flowing move, Tony Fraser tucking home from close range.

A third piece of silverware for our lads and the big one to come this Thursday against Brentwood at Southend Manor.

he couldn't play his under 18's as they were all injured or away on holidays or at night school or at family birthdays...he had to play a mixture of 6 year olds...under 5 ladies and a few old codgers from the hullbridge sports and social club...
