Someone explain Cricket to me.

Over the last weekend the England team have been playing New Zealand. Weather got in the way and delayed play meaning we didn't get a full five days (a rip off at the very least) but we got to Sunday, both teams had batted once and New Zealand were about to start batting for the final day.

Now I know that both teams bat twice, although I'm not sure why, but of the first round of batting England won more runs. I heard this was by two runs but later I'm sure I heard someone say it was by 52 runs, whatever it was it wasn't going to take long for NZ to catch us and then over take us.

So my question is why did they bother to let NZ bat for the final day, they would not have got both teams to bat for the final day so it was unfair. I know it was a draw but why? England were obviously the better team as they won more runs. I just don't understand the game of Cricket, roll on the Euros.

Ok, this is my take on cricket...

Its played in the 'summer' so generally its warmer. You can drink beer and watch the game at the same time, sitting in pleasant surroundings (Kent at Canterbury for example). Erm, thats about it, but what more do you need to know?

You haven't eaten a hot dog, until you have eaten a Ballpark Dog.........Only Nathans at Coney Island are better! IMO.

I love this. And here's the rules of cricket - I have watched cricket all my life ... BUT NO MORE!!

You have two sides, one out on the field and the other in.

Each man in the side that's in goes out, and when he's out he comes in, and the next man goes out till he's out.

When the side that's in is all out, the side that been out comes in and the side that been in goes out and tries to get out the side that's coming in.

Sometimes you get men still in and not out when the side that is in is finally out. When both sides have been in and out, including those who are in and not out, that's the end of the game.

I would do, apart from the fact that I DID NOT SET MY SKY+ to record the original program, and the highlights does not let you relive it. doh
