Curry tonight!

Recommended Posts

Hi Rob.

Someone at The Club, I think it was James & Vickie, say that The Mumtaj is the best in town.

For me, The New Gulshan or for a special treat, the place at High Oaks [High Oaks Tandoori?] does a home delivery service and the food is very good.

Don't get the chutneys mixed up!

The chef in the Mumtaj, Chad, is offically the 2nd best indian chef in the WORLD... The only person who beat him works in a 5 star hotel in New Delly (sic <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />)

There is a not a curry house in this district that will beat the Mumtaj, New Goulash isn't even fit to clean Chad's shoes!

Go in and just get one of their special dishes, any one and I promise it will be like having a party in your mouth and everyones invited!

Yeah, I knew that Voice, that's why we went there.

It's not the most attractive of restaurants, a bit cramped but the new extension at the back is OK, if you don't mind sitting in a row of tables that are quite close together.

The food however, makes up for everything, every little detail is just right and the service is spot on too. Nice muzak as well, not the usual sitar stuff. Definitely recommend it.

Mumtaj - now excellent, used to be dreadful (tomato soup with chicken in) - as good as anything you will get in Brick Lane (not as cheap)

Gulshan - used to be good, now poor

Koh-i-noor on George Street not bad

Cafe Monsoon opposite the Harrow very good for "modern" Indian (which seems to be fish a lot of the time)

Rats - avoid at all costs unless you play league darts
