Todays NLP

Seeing the players that have left over the past few weeks makes me wonder what we have lost. Here are some of the comments from todays paper....

Che Stadart, someone who I think had some unfair critisism when at MFC, picks his dream team

Justin Skinner..One of the best left pegs around..feisty in the tackle..he was quality

Jimmy Jackson...An absolute legend a great set piece player great quality on the ball,

Greg Oates...Quick, good on the ball, great at one on ones..amazing stamina, good attacking full back

Rocky Babtiste..The Kanu of non league

Sam Sodje.....Greatest leap I have ever seen on football pitch

Also John Akinde being chased bt Peterborough. Nikki Bull in the NLP...Akindes ability is just scary..massive future in front of him

I know players move on but we have let some quality players go, with no, reward over the past few seasons.

I think some other players we have let go this season will be back to haunt us next season.

Who will we be watching next year?

Well I for one saw something in him & I said so at the time. Sadly he wasn't our property anyway (so to speak)so we were just helping out but he certainly wasn't used enough when he was with us,thats for sure.
I recall speaking to him on the terraces the very night he first turned up & before he had made his debut for us that he was,at that time, prepared to sign for us if he was asked.
It's turned out to be a godsend perhaps for him NOT to have been asked.
I'm absolutely over the moon for him to see him prospering now, whether that be with us,the Fleet or any other club.

Amazing how we missed this 'talent'.

i guess you could blame RT as he would also have seen him in training, and thus be aware of his potential;but in fairness to RT-on the one occasion that i saw Akinde-i did not think he had much to offer either-how wrong i was.

Reminded me a bit of Yiga-whatever happened to him-amazing how the fortunes of two similar players can vary so much. With coaching and attention-which RT did not want to give him-his own words-could Yiga have been developed similarly

You seem to be assuming Akinde would have wanted to stay with us.

No not assume.Akinde told me in his own words,at the time, that he wasn't ruling out that possibility.
He was obviously not showing the form then that he is showing now but it WAS there within him to produce his skills in the future.
Alas, those in the driving seat here failed to see it & he wasn't used enough in his short time here for us to witness his full worth.

Why not. Many have dropped a league or two to get first team football rather than being a fringe player..He obviously wasn't showing then what he's showing now otherwise he wouldn't have been loaned out in the first place.

Polite? Possibly, but I didn't think so at the time.I recall the conversation clearly.(not often I remember anything these days but I certainly recall that conversation).By all means check back over the posts(some months ago, obviously)where he was first mentioned & you will see it was mentioned at that time too, long before he became a player of the future & before he had set foot on the pitch at HP.

History now tells us that he was taken back to Ebbsfleet & given a chance, not just the odd substitute appearance like when here & like so many others who have passed through this club in the past & who have gone onto better things, but a few full games on the trott in Fleets first team.

He certainly took his chance then didn't he & I'm sure he will get even better as he matures even more.

Anyway all thats history too now but I for one will be watching his progress from here-on with extreme interest.

Big John's progress since his debut in November has been awesome. He has listened to those around him, especially Liam's motto "believe!!" and is reaping the rewards.

He is nowhere near the finished article - won't be for 3 or 4 years, but at this rate of progress, there is no limit to where he might go.

Just hope it is with us.
