Off-Topic Football Question

I was having a chat with someone today and mentioned an incident where a penalty was given but the striker practically pleaded with the ref not to give it as it was not actually a foul.

We both agreed that the striker was Robbie Fowler and the 'keeper was David Seaman but we could not remember if Fowler actually took the kick and whether he scored or not.

Anyone else remember this?

This got me thinking. I remember seeing it on MOTD but couldn't remember what happened.

Quote:
Mark Wright's long ball, a wonderful example of Liverpool stepping up the pace, sent Fowler charging towards Seaman's goal. England's goalkeeper came out and collided with Fowler, who fell to the floor. Fowler initially appeared to be pleading Seaman's case, but Gerald Ashby had no doubts, pointing to the spot.

Arsenal were apoplectic but, the decision having been given, were perhaps fortunate that Seaman was not at least cautioned. The Arsenal keeper did then save Fowler's spot-kick, but his defence failed to react quickly enough, allowing McAteer to drill in the rebound.
