Would the Scots understand Kenny? Would Kenny understand the Scots? :-)

I do have reservations on the possible cost but think it's a top idea. I think that the team would benefit from it as well.

I also have reservations about the cost of me attending but I have never been to Scotland. A little footballing holiday is a good option to have.

Ahem, I think that comparing the Kent Cup to a fitness kickabout might cause some offence!

They've already done that once this month! Twice in three months - they'd be in paradise!

The East Kilbride Tournament would be at East Kilbride's ground, they're a Scottish Junior side. Stirling Albion are also in the Tournament, not sure of the 3rd team but out slot is being reserved whilst the Gretna situation gets cleared up.

I see that Gretna look doomed with the only backer now pulling out, and Annan are looking to take their place in the league.

This is the initial post from ManicScot:

'I'm just off the phone with Roly Edwards and, subsequently, the secretary of Annan Athletic. I've been informed that Liam isn't looking to bring Ebbsfleet United to Scotland for pre-season and have subsequently had to cancel Ebbsfleet's involvement in this season's Annan Tournament. I'd just like to point out that this isn't Roly's fault, plus I also hope Annan can fill the slot as they already have enough on their plate with installing floodlights and applying for the "Gretna" place in the SFL.

Of course, word is no doubt going to spread about this and this will make arranging anything for next pre-season that bit harder.'

It seems that Liam was against the idea. This is ManicScot explaining the reason why it is not going to happen.

'No, it's not confidential. Pretty much boils down to Liam being stubborn and when he doesn't want to do something, well he doesn't want to do it. He wants games closer to where he lives, apparently.'

Quote from the member rpullinger:

'Its time we put our foot down. This is NOT Liam's decision.'

I don't know if Liam was consulted about this from the off. It's a shame as I reckon I would have gone but I did wonder about the cost of getting the squad up to Scotland and then putting them up somewhere.

Cheers Jeff..

The Annan Tournament was a nice idea - just proved not to be so nice in practise.

Feel its a bit harsh letting the blame land totally on Liams call tho... Surely the club would have been concerned about the cost of putting 20 staff up in hotels in Scotland, plus travel costs etc for the best part of a week.

Would doubt it will affect next seasons pre-season either, will go back to playing the likes of Welling, Bromley, Whitstable etc... Not exactly on Liams doorstep are they...

Was it ever confirmed that Ebbsfleet were going to take part in this tournament, or was it somebody without any official connection with the Club putting their name forward without consent?

I love the "Liam is stubborn" part........Liam has a duty to what is best for his players and if he thinks a trip to Scotland isn't in their best interests, then that is his right!

I hope Liam is just "as stubborn", when it comes to PTT and his team selection! evil

Couldn't agree more AFF...

I guess when 30,000 "owners" have input into who and where the club might play, this kinda feck-up could happen unless its discussed properly first.

Hopefully the appointment of CEO & chairman will make things like this happen less often.

I completely agree. This all sounded very much like ManicScot touting around an idea without much club involvement so maybe he shouldn't have been committing the team to anything in the first place.

We're losing a shed load of money each month, yet think it's a good idea to spend who knows how long in Scotland? Maybe Liam knows that money is much better spent on paying player's wages.

I suppose it is too much to ask, and too much common sense for the Kent Senior Cup (next year) to be played over a 2 week period, pre season. It would make for competitive local games, with good crowds, as opposed to meaningless pre season freindlies against under strength teams.

It would also prevent the fixture pile ups that have dogged this year's fiasco.

Must be the lowest turnout of any MYFC vote! One vote for, none against.

No wonder Liam didn't want to do it.
