i think that even if halifax are safe we will now be in the southern league and halifax will be that extra club in the unibond.

It would be a bit cruel to write and say we have been reprieved then take it away.

truro is more like 8 hours in reality but who cares good weekend away in nice surroundings, all these clubs moaning about it,

truro have to make long journeys 20 plus times a season.

Talking about truro and travel

City are set to become the UK's 6th most travelled football team next season, clocking up around 4,711 miles next season in their first ever Southern League venture.

Much has been made of teams having to travel once a season to Cornwall, but in comparing City's mileage for the coming season it becomes clear what a mammoth task faces the Western Premier League side. At 4,711 miles next season, City rank 6th of the 1099 clubs who ply their trade from Step 7 right the way through to the Barclaycard Premier League. Nearby Plymouth Argyle lead the table, with City in 6th behind promoted League One side Swansea City.

1. Plymouth Argyle - 5,981 miles

2. Carlisle United - 5,559 miles

3. Hartlepool United - 5,083 miles

4. Torquay United - 4,991 miles

5. Swansea City - 4,835 miles

6. Truro City - 4,711 miles

* While City's stats are based on the upcoming 2008/09 season, the others are based upon their mileage from the 2007/08 season.

To put this into context, Premiership giants Manchester United only face half the travelling that The White Tigers will, covering 2,311 miles while Liverpool face 2,528 miles. Even Blue Square Conference side Exeter City face a few less miles on the motorway, doing 4,562 miles. Southern Premier League Tiverton cover 3,025 miles while City's fellow South & West Division 1 side Taunton must see 2,489 throughout the season (though a trip to Truro will increase their mileage further this coming season!).

It all goes to show how far City have come, quite literally, since their days in the Carlsberg South Western League. Indeed, Peninsula Premier League winners Bodmin Town - who pipped City to the title in 2004/05 season - had to travel a total of 714 miles last season.

Needless to say, should City ever manage to gain promotion to the Southern Premier League they could go some way to challenging Plymouth at the top of the mileage table

surely it would be cruel for us to get forms enter the league and then about 4 weeks later get told you are going down after all. but again we wouldnt have too much to complain about as we were relegated and are lucky to have any hope of staying up

Re: [psm88] Halifax / Slough Town situation? [in reply to] Quote | Reply

I think it is very unlikely that Slough will be relegated even if Halifax do come in at step 4. If they did come in at step 4, the NP1N would operate with 21 clubs next season.

The other options are that they come it at step 5 or 6 in either the NWC or NCE.

The Kempmeister has been wrong before and clearly he didn't get everything right when it came to league placings - e.g. Marlow in the Midlands league!

I still think we're staying up regardless of the Halifax situation. I consider it unlikely that the leagues will change dramatically but I won't be planning my route to Truro just yet!
