MISA

This is getting out of hand.

My fundraising is my choice and is not done to the betterment of my own ego or the deterement of others. I hope the next few paragraphs help you understand why I do it.

MISA raise funds in the past and, in the present day, by certain members of the committee providing their expertise and labour(free of charge) to manage the running of the catering out lets (also the bar in the past)and providing the hospitality for the players and directors, then donating the net takings to the club.

My colleagues and my efforts are in a completely different field and the resulting profits go to help support our youngsters. I do not know if you are aware that i was asked by a board member( Mr Painter)if i would like to run the match day meat raffle as i had run the raffles the previous season. I said yes as I am sure you would also have done if you to had been asked. After a couple of games I became aware of the situation regarding the finances of the reserves / under 18's. Did you know Mark Weatherly was paying for the kits to be washed out of his own pocket. Were you aware that the youngsters not only have to pay subs to play for the reserves. Were you aware the youngsters had to buy certain parts of the kit required to be able to play for us and were you aware that they didn't have any balls of their own to train or play with. The ones they used were borrowed. On finding this out i spoke to Malcolm Rowlett, Terry Painter and indirectly Alan Bown, who all agreed that this was an intolerable situation. I asked if i could use some of the monies raised to purchase new footballs. They said Yes and went before the board. By getting it noted in the boards minutes that the meat raffle monies would be used for the betterment of the Reserve / U18's. This money and other money my colleagues and i have raised will go towards new equipment and kit for the forthcoming season. This i hope will push us further along the road to turning Margate FC into the Man U, Arsenal,(how ever you want it) of Non League Football. The work continues at this level no matter what happens at 1st team level, and may it do so for many years to come.

My problem with MISA at the moment comes from four things in the main. The lack of communication, the way people are co-opted onto to the committee, and the changes to the constitution.

The election of committee members.

The lack of communication:- 3 years ago we were promised a quarterly newsletter, to go out to all members, to keep them/us abreast of what was going on and where MISA was going. Where is it.

The way people are co-opted onto the committee. This happened in my case, because i worked on a voluntary basis, helping to put the ground back i was asked to join. I did but, never felt comfortable with it. I would like to see it changed to allow members to be elected onto the committee only at the AGM or a EGM. and not as happened when people fall in or out of favour.

Constitution:- I would like to see changes to the constitution made only at the AGM and only after amendments have be put out to members 21 days before the meeting and then discussed each item in turn by the AGM.

Election of committee members:- I would like to see all the positions on the committee annually put up for re election. This i know happens at the moment but, where are the notice forms to fill in if you wish to stand for a position. where was the mention of the times and dates for any application if you wanted to in the letter of notice for the AGM. Surely this form needed to go out prior to the AGM notification as you need time to consider, fill it in and return it.

Can i just say that a letter, with a form, is on its way to misa members regarding the positions. Im sure that anybody who may be interested have already thought this through, and are aware of the many responsibilites that each position holds.

Regarding communication, a brouchure has been developed already and has been sold on match days with good response. The new brouchure is currently being published. Anybody who would like to contibute in any part of this is very welcome. We have many members who have contibuted already but we are always greatfull to hear from others if they wish to contibute.

1. I have taken food sales into account as that formed part of the public donations to MFC.

2. The reserves are part of MFC but surely its the directors of MFC's responsibility to direct some of that donation towards the reserves.

3. I am not decrying bluebloods efforts in fundraising as if he so wishes to raise money for the reserves thats his business. I am not against any fundraising for anything that involves MFC.

What I do not like is the fact that some wish to cheapen the efforts of those currently on the MISA commitee.

Leah does a long day at work and then sometimes goes straight to meetings with nothing to eat. She has marking to do and still finds time at home to write letters and minutes of meetings. I wonder Joseba are you and Blueblood decrying her efforts!

Paul I do not wish to get into a slagging and point scoring excercise. As I have already stated I am not a member of misa. Therefore, I do not know what misa does or how much effort they put into there activities. All I am saying is that I can see what blueblood does and in MY personal opinion he has never been given credit for any of it.

Surely credit should be given to him from Margate fc and the reserves.

I'm not gonna get into a slagging match either as I am not a MISA member this season although I do support all of there functions. I do of course stand by Leah and the work she has put in in the last few seasons.

I think this is not the time or the place to undermine any fund raising by blueblood or any Misa involvement at the club.

I would suggest at the Misa AGM or a private meeting which could be organized in the future to discuss the previous post on the forum

There are enough problems at present within the club. So if any of you wish to air your dirty laundry then please do so professionally either face to face or at a meeting

thank you Dave....

Graham, if you have so many grievances and being a member of MISA you should attend the AGM and make your feelings known because as you know not everybody connected with MISA has access to the internet.

Whilst no one decries your fund raising activities be aware that it should be the responsibilty of the football club to finance all football criteria, that is why MISA have donated so much money since their inception to aid this cause.

I can't believe that a this time of uncetainty the supporters are now having a go at each other. I know all these people personally and they all do a fantastic job to help MFC. I did not get the impression that Blublood was having a go at any individual, but, in his opinion, some things could be improved with regards to committee matters, mainly around proper procedures. I dont know, perhaps he has a point but surely it can be dealt with at the AGM. Blueblood was asked by MFC to raise funds after pointing out a shortfall in something he feels passionately about. As at all other clubs fundraising is done by the club and supporters associations seperately. Please lets not get into a slanging match between people whom without the club could not survive. Lets get together at the AGM, TALK, and sort this out.

Brouchure!!!! Are you referring to the fanzine?

Still no answer to how many meetings are the committee meant to attend or jobs during the summer months

I have heard that MISA only has a membershipof about 100 so with our gates having an average of about 500 it is not representive of the fan base especially when I read the infighting on here.

Begs the question is joining MISA really worth it?

I would imagine that like me there are some who want to donate money to a specific cause i.e. the youth/reserve teams. Very few turn up to watch these teams, in fact it`s mainly family and, other than the reserves there is no gate money only cash from players to play/train. The fact is that there are only tenuous links between these teams and (IMO) they are down the pecking list when it comes to handing out. Excepting that without a first team and it`s supporters at all levels there would not be anything else I take my hat off to BB for his efforts and should I put my hand in my pocket next season it will be in 2 ways. 1) through the turn style, 2)supporting fund raising for the reserve/u18.

I agree that we need to get all this out in the open at the AGM, not in private as has been suggested. It is also nice to note that we are now going to get forms for anyone who wishes to stand for the Committee, to fill in and return.

Paul, This is not personal, I am not getting at any one in particular. All i am trying to do is make MISA more open and visible. Since i left the committee i have talked to and listened to many supporters and members. The majority i have spoken to have been unhappy and, have raised concerns on its secrecy and said lack of visibility. Maybe MISA needs to change and Maybe it should loose some of its close connections with certain people. As i said before, it is the Margate Independant Supporters Association after all.

I respect the fact that you have raised money for the reserves and youth but I don't feel that a forum is the place to debate this any longer. You and anyone else will have your chance to have your say at the AGM where you are quite entitled to have your say. I've defended Leah as anyone of you would with your partners as I feel she does her bit with the time she's got. That is all i've got to say on the matter.

I would like to thank Leah for promptly putting out the form concerning the positions open for election. Although I have no interest in standing for any of these affor mentioned positions. I may have been interested in rejoining the committee as a ordinary member but, it looks as though these positions are not open. If and when they come up I hope we, the members, will be told and, given the opportunity to present to fellow members, what we believe, we have to offer MISA. I should hate to think election to the committee is by grace and favour only.
