Bowers & Pitsea Statement

On Monday 28th April I was asked to attend a meeting regarding the election of Mr Tony Cross and John Bennett as Bowers & Pitsea First Team Managers to replace John Doyle who at this point had not been informed. I went to said meeting and asked for reasons to Doylie's departure and was told these reasons:

None of the players liked him - I answered this with the argument that the whole team bar three had just gone to the Barkingside v Concord Game for a beer and to watch the team as a group

The second reason was the team were [****!!****] - I pointed out that we had only lost one game in ten and that was to Enfield 1893 on the wednesday with the bare minimum of players after road accidents, injuries etc and was told we were playing [****!!****] football, I again said it did not matter if we were winning games.

The next reason was that players had not been paid for three weeks and I pointed out that if someone had not been paid why had they not gone to the chairman to ask why? - I asked how many had approached him (chairman) he stated none, I asked who had told him all this and the vice chairman stated his step son had told him.

The last reason made it all obvious, they then said Doylie was a bad manager - I again pointed out that since I had been there post double success with Cross, we had on average finished 6 or 7 the most successful being last season under Doylie when we finished 4th. Darren George got us to the semi's of the County Cup but League wise this was the best.

 

I was then told that under no circumstances would Michael Barnard, Vice Chairman put any more money into club if Doylie was manager and that he was gone. Tony Cross and John bennett along with Gary Hayward then turned up. I sat listening to what they had to say until 11.00pm when I left. I was told under no circumstances was i to tell Doylie or anyone else about this, I found this hard to do as he has been my friend for a long time but I did.

I also told them that noone would be happy about this and was told that they had already spoken to players and members etc. this was a lie as those who were at Brimsdown would know and if you speak with members not one thinks that what was done was correct - its not the fact that they got rid of this lot it is how.

 

Tony Cross then telephoned Doylie on Wednesday because his conscience got the better of him, (his words to Doylie) and told him he was to be the new manager, doylie accused him of stabbing him in the back and he then told Doylie that if anyone had stabbed him i was me, Lee AStevens, because I knew and was at the meeting, obviously I got it in the neck that night which I cannot blame him for. Doylie phoned Benno and confronted him and again he told him I was there and that I had let him down, They have both since denied this and said that I told Doylie. I know what I did and that was not it.

 

The club heard about this and Harry Buckley held a meeting with myself and Peter Feltham to discuss and I was told that over his dead body and under no circumstances would Tony Cross be manager of the club, expect to read the obituary's soon.

 

In recent texts, not calls because noone has the bottle to talk to me I have been told that the whole club was in agreement with the chairman. So what happened at Brimsdown was a show of support ???. Since this has happened Tony Cross has approached basildon reserve manager about running Reserves next season again our own management Team did bnot know until I told them about it on Saturday, they are bringing in their own under 15, again our recently appointed u15 manager Ian Robery does not know this. Crossy has applied for Brentwood Town job and then told a former player fro Bowers that he will be dumping Benno in six weeks because he doesnt rate him and Gary is his coach.

 

Because of this I have resigned as secreatry of Bowers & Pitsea.

 

I have tried to arrange meetings but the Chairman and Vice Chairm,an will not attend any and the last thing I can do is call and AGM which is in the constitution to resign and then do and vote to re-elect everyone. I may even go up against the chairman because I have the support of 95% of the club and we will take control - watch this space.

 

I think thats about it other than to say that they have brought shame on this club and Len Salmon would be turning in his grave.

Thought that was common knowledge, when we played bowers 15th april one of their players told us crossy was taking over at the end of the season

I've been Secretary of two clubs and never needed an AGM to resign. What can they do if you just walk away? Under the circumstances, I would have thought you have every right to.

The fact is, B&P (and other clubs) have shat on managers and players alike for years - everyone knows this, and why you feel the need to post on this Forum I don't know !! Maybe you just want some sort of pat on the back ?? no one gives a fck, now jog on !

Interesting thing about football is how much people who do naff all can stab stab stab at people who commit themselves to clubs and then run a mile when offered responsibility....for some strange reason (themselves usually) they know best until it becomes their turn in the barrel.....

strikes me as not a bowers and pitsea statement (as indicated by the title) but a personal statement from talede (whoever he/she is)...not sure why this lot hasn't gone already already already...!!

 

not that I give a fck anyway...its just normal football bollox and hardly worth worrying about...players and managers come and go...and after what I have experienced in a lifetime of being involved with football/NL...

we normally have a new manager every year but somehow bridie has got his hands on a few shares so we're fckn stuck with him now....

 

as for coachie....well we need a new unders 8's manager....do you think he'd be interested...?
